September 11, 2001 - Tuesday
What a sad day.
When I was eating out tonight the restaurant had the TV on and I noticed that the
news was all about New York. I managed to figure out that a plane had flown into
the World Trade Center. The news was in Japanese and my kanji is pitiful, so I
wasn't sure exactly what had happened.
After I got home I watched the (thankfully) English broadcast and learned a bit more.
It's a terrible thing to have happened. I found out that about 3 or more planes
have crashed. Thousands of people are injured. It looks like it was part of a terrorist plot, but no-one's exactly sure. At least not at the moment.
Work today was fine. I didn't have a busy day as 2 of my classes had cancelled. I
did get another present today. I got an umbrella and a shopping bag. They are so
nice!
When I left work, I walked home and I went for soba. That's when I saw/heard about
the terrorist attack. I didn't understand the whole story.
After I ate, I went to the shrine at the top of the hill. Today would have been my
Mum's birthday and I wanted to pay my respects. I huffed and puffed my way up the
hill, then up the steps. I said my piece and got a bit of a peaceful feeling, then
I came home.
At home I watched Due South and I spoke to my beloved for a bit. Both of us are horrified
by the news.
On this sad note, I bid you all adieu. I'm off to Tsuruoka and I'll be away from
my computer for a couple of weeks. Don't worry about me, if all goes well I'll be
back at my computer by September 25.
