CITY BEAUTIFUL OF SAN DIEGO, INC.

Greetings:          March 2008

As president of City Beautiful I want to welcome all our new and renewing members for 2008. 
This year holds promise of some interesting and exciting activities. 
Also, we have a new Board and Board Officers. They are:

We have received the Surveyor’s report detailing her findings regarding the accreditation of the Balboa Park Botanical Building as a Botanical Garden Museum. The Museum Assessment Committee met in January to review the report and lay plans for meeting requirements outlined therein in order to apply for full accreditation from the American Association of Museums.

The Board is working on several membership activities for the coming year. The first event is to celebrate Arbor Day in Balboa Park with the Friends of Balboa Park. The date is Tuesday, March 11, at 11:00 A.M. at the War Memorial Building Lawn on Park Blvd. We are also invited to participate in a second Arbor Day Celebration in Rancho Bernardo, sponsored by SDG&E. The date is April 26 for post-fire planting in Rancho Bernardo. 

Friends of Balboa Park have invited City Beautiful members to join them in a tram tour of Balboa Park. The dates being considered are April 19 or May 10. The cost for the tram will be $10 per person. In June there will be a membership luncheon, and we plan to have a fall event that is yet to be determined. Finally, in December we will as usual sponsor the Poinsettia Display and opening ceremony at the Botanical Bldg. in Balboa Park. All of these events and activities will be fun and interesting. 

Notices will be sent concerning these activities whenever plans become firm. Please watch for them and mark your calendar to attend. We look forward to your active participation and support. If any of you would like to serve on the Board, we have openings and would welcome hearing from you.
