This list originated in the San Francisco Bay Area after a small group of real-time [i.e. not roleplay, or online-only] Goreans met mostly by chance. Surprised to see that others actually lived the Gorean lifestyle, I took it upon myself to create this list in hopes that other Goreans might be drawn out of hiding. I am the acting "Ubar" (i.e., founder and organizer) of a r/t group called the "Blood People," a name used in Nomads of Gor to refer to the Kassar. The Blood People explore r/t Gor, domination-submission, as well as issues of masculinity and femininity in our modern industrial age.

Gorean Life in General

Gor is greatly misunderstood by many involved with its cousin groups under the acronym, BDSM [bondage/domination/sadomasochistic play]. Though these two groups share common languages (Mastery, slavery, ownership) there is a decided difference between all that comes under the heading of 'Kink' and 'BDSM" and that which is part of the Gorean ethos. We encourage those new to Gor, and those who are serious about it, to study the source books as well as visit some online sites which openly discuss the Gorean lifestyle (not roleplay) before joining this list. Living the Gorean lifestyle is also not all about slavery and Mastery; it is an ethos based upon biological determinism.

Rather than an emphasis on 'spanking', 'subbies' or 'play parties', Gorean life focuses instead, among other things, on the natural relationships that men have to women, and to each other, in the natural order of behavior and biology. In accordance with this philosophy, most of us would agree not with the standard BDSM conflation of pain with pleasure in slavery and Mastery, but instead say, 'Kari Sumli Fahgeen Pasheen," or "Love is the best whip".

CaliforniaGoreans@onelist.com is a Northern California discussion list for people who take the lifestyle of Gor seriously. This is not a role-playing list. Rather, this list is all about how to make the lifestyle of Gor workable in real life (realtime, or "r/t"). Gorean Free Persons and slaves of both genders are welcome to join. This list is NOT for solicitation of sex, and such will not be tolerated. People will uphold the tenets of Gor, and the list Owner encourages honorable behavior in the Free, and respect and trust from all, at all times while conversing on list.
