Search For A Father part 1
Sparow woke up, in a great deal of pain. He
looked around at his surroundings to try to figure out where he was. It didn’t
take him long to figure out he was lying on a bed in Soul Warrior’s cabin, just
like he was before he met Ruby. Perhaps Ruby, the tournament and that whole
marriage happened only in his head.
‘What a strange dream’ Sparow
thought as he hoped out of bed. At that moment Ruby walked in with pile of
clothes in her hands, ‘Darn, I was hoping it was a dream.’
“Well, I see you are feeling
better,” Ruby said, blushing.
Sparow followed Ruby’s eyes down to
find out he had no clothes on, “Give me those,” Sparow said as he took the
clothes from Ruby’s hands.
“I washed them for you, you wouldn’t
believe how dirty they were,” Ruby said, still blushing at the sight of Sparow.
“You mind?” Sparow asked as he
started to put on his clothes.
“Oh sorry,” Ruby said as she turned
around, “Say Sparow have you ever wondered who your father is?”
“Why should I? He’s a rotten father,
he ran off on me, I don’t give a damn who he may be.”
“But aren’t you just a little
curious to find out who it is?
“I suppose a little,” Sparow said as
he finished putting on his clothes, “You can turn around now.
“Then lets go find him,” Ruby said as
she turned around to face Sparow, “You look as handsome as the day I married
you.”
“And where do you plan on looking
first?” Sparow asked ignoring the compliment since they were only made a couple
of hours ago.
“Come on I know someone who can help
us,” Ruby said as she grabbed Sparow’s hand.
A short time later, after a little
spell by Ruby, Sparow found himself in the fabled city in the clouds, the
places that the myths call Rainbow City. Indeed the city lived up to its name
as it was a bright and colorful place with a rainbow hanging above it.
“Ruby how nice to see you again,” a
man in a suit of red armor said as he rushed up to give Ruby a hug.
“Thank you Red Knight for letting us
in the city,” Ruby said returning the hug.
“So who’s this ruffian you have with
you?” Red Knight asked.
“He’s my husband, Sparow,” Ruby
answered.
“Don’t remind me,” Sparow said.
“If you don’t want her, I gladly
take this pretty face off your hands,” Red Knight said as he ran his hand along
Ruby’s face.
“How about this, you touch her one
more time and I chop your hands off,” Sparow said with an uncharacteristic
smile.
“So what can I do for you darling,”
Red Knight said, ignoring Sparow’s warnings.
“Ok that’s it pretty boy,” Sparow
said as he pulled out his sword.
“Cool it,” Ruby said grabbing Sparow
wrist.
Red Knight laughed.
“I need you to help Sparow here to
find his father.”
“Why should I help this barbaric
man?” Red Knight asked.
“You looking for an escapee from
your prison are you not? Nightmare, correct?” Sparow asked.
“How did you know about that?” Red
Knight demanded.
“I make a deal with you, you help me
find out my father, and I help you capture Nightmare,” Sparow said.
Red Knight thought about it for a
couple of seconds before responding, “You got yourself a deal.”
“I knew you would help us,” Ruby
said with excitement.
“Anything for beautiful lady,” Red
Knight said with a smile, “Now follow me to the exit of the city.”
As the two walked to the exit of the
city, Ruby and Red Knight chatted among themselves. As near as Sparow could
tell from there conversation the two of them had been friends since childhood.
And from the sound of it Red Knight has had a crush on Ruby since the first
time he saw her.
“What the?” Sparow said as his sword
started to glow white again.
“Anything wrong?” Ruby asked.
“My sword is acting up again, I
wonder what could be causing it this time,” Sparow said as he looked around,
the only people he could see were other knights in brightly colored outfits
enter the city, and one man dressed in a black cloak “Who are they?”
Red Knight looked at where Sparow
was pointing, “Them are my fellow Rainbow Knights. It appears they are helping
that peasant out. I don’t see why the would cause a reaction from your sword.”
“Strange,” Sparow said to himself .
It wasn’t long before Sparow
re-entered the opera house where he battled earlier. The place was now
abandoned, and no one was in sight.
“So where is he?” Red Knight asked
as the three of them stepped onto the stage.
“I don’t understand,” Sparow said as
he looked around, “He should be doing his best impersonation of an ice statue
right now.”
As the three of them, continued to
look around a large snake monster rose up out of the opera pit.
“What is that?” Red Knight asked as
both he and Ruby back away from the large monster.
Sparow looked up at the huge
snarling black snake and just laughed.
“Sparow get out of there now, before
you get eaten,” Ruby pleaded.
Sparow closed his eyes, and slowly
started to turn in a circle, “He’s around here somewhere, just a matter of
where… there, Ice-fire!”
Sparow directed his ice-fire towards
the back curtains. A black bubble stopped the attack.
“Damn you Sparow,” Nightmare said as
he appeared where the black bubble was, “Why didn’t my illusion work on you?”
“While that large snake might have
been one of their worst nightmares, I have seen far worse, and she used to go
by the name mom,” Sparow said as he pulled out his sword, and advanced on
Nightmare, “Now I suggest you go quietly before I show you just how much of a
nightmare I can be.”
Nightmare looked around at his
enemies before dropping his sword to the ground, “Three against one are not
good odds, any smart general will tell you that. I will go quietly for now, but
rest assure this will not be the last time you hear from me.”
“We see about that,” Red Knight said
as he handcuffed Nightmare.
“This has been a long day ,” Sparow
said as he stared up at the stars.
“Look its Trinity,” Ruby said
pointing out a small but very bright light in the sky.
“You two can come in now,” Red
Knight said from behind.
“Finally I will get to know who my
father is,” Sparow said as he walked into the small tower with Ruby.
“Are you sure the Rainbow Crystal
will be able to help Sparow?” Ruby asked.
“What is this Rainbow Crystal,
exactly?” Sparow asked as the three started the walk up the steep stairs.
“The Rainbow Crystal has many
powers,” Red Knight explained, “It creates the rainbows you see after rain, it
bring hope to whoever touches it, it provides a great deal of energy that runs
everything in Rainbow City, and it can answer any question asked to it.”
“Sounds like a bunch of b.s to me,”
Sparow said not believing one small crystal can do all that.
“You’ll see,” Red Knight said as he
stopped in front of a metal door, “We’re here.”
As Red knight pressed his hand up
against a scanner to open the door, Sparow was having his doubts. It was simply
impossible fro one object to hold so much power.
“Come in,” Red Knight said as he
entered the room, and immediately walked up a set of metal stairs and went to a
computer terminal, “Now Sparow all you have to do is put your hand on the
crystal and ask your question.”
Sparow walked into the room, and
looked at the crystal. It was spherical crystals that flashed many different
colors at every angel. The crystal it self was floating waist high in the
center of an area lit with bright white lights.
“It’s worth a shot, I suppose,”
Sparow said shrugging as he entered the white lit area, and slowly placed his
hand on the shiny crystal, “Who is my father?”
Sparow waited a few moments, “Now
what?”
“Just one minute,” Red Knight said
as he punched some keys on his keyboard, “Ok here it is. The Rainbow Crystal
says your father has pure heart.”
Sparow stared blankly up at Red
Knight for a few seconds before erupting, “That’s it? That’s all your
all-powerful Rainbow Crystal can tell me? For Christ sake Emerald was more help
then this stupid crystal!”
“I’m sorry that’s all it says,” Red
Knight said apologetically.
“Well, where to now?” Ruby asked as
Sparow emerged from the white light.
“I have one idea, on who it might
be,” Sparow said as he exited the room.
“It’s him isn’t it?” Ruby asked as
she joined Red Knight up on the scaffolding.
“This crystal must be wrong, there’s
no where that ruffian is the son of that man,” Red Knight said as he stared at
the computer screen.
“You know as well as I do, the
rainbow crystal is never wrong,” Ruby said.
“Is that’s true, why didn’t you want
me to tell him who his father is?”
“That is too easy. He needs to find
out for himself, we just needed to get him started on his search.
“To think his father is…”
