Enter Shade
“Step away from that man,” A man dressed in a black cloak said from behind Spider and the gang.
“Who are you?” Spider questioned as
he turned to face the man in black. The man was looking down, and the hood of his
cloak was covering his head, preventing Spider from seeing the man’s face.
“The name’s Shade, and I suggest
your follow orders like a good little insect or else,” the man in black said,
not evening looking up to face Spider.
“I think I should teach you some
manners,” Spider said as he wiped his sword clean, “Now I show you never to
interrupt a person when he is busy.”
Spider charged Shade, but Shade
remained still. Just as Spider was about to slice a hole into Shade, he
disappeared causing him to crash against the tree Shade was standing in front
of.
Spade started to laugh as Silence
held back a laugh of his own.
“Shut up,” Spider said as he got to
his feet, “Where did that little magician go?”
“It’s not nice to wield dangerous
weapons in front of people,” Shade said as he re-appeared a couple of feet away
from Spider.
“Why you,” Spider yelled as he
charged Shade again.
This time Shade extended his hand,
as black bolts of lightning stroke Spider down.
“No for you two,” Shade said as he
turned towards Silence and Spade, his hand still extended, “I suggest you also
step away from that man, unless if you want to end up like your boss here.”
“Come on boys, we are done with that
man anyways,” Spider said as he managed to pull himself off the ground.
The two nodded, and slowly walked
away from Silver Samurai, making sure to keep their eye on Shade.
“I warn you, next time we won’t be
so easily defeated,” Spider boasted, before making his hasting retreat.
“Damn thieves,” Shade said to
himself as he watched the three leave.
“Are you ok?” Shade asked as he
extended his hand towards Silver Samurai.
“Thanks for the help,” Silver
Samurai said as he took Shade’s hand.
“You know if you did the right
thing, this would have never happened,” Shade said sternly.
“What are you talking about?” Silver
Samurai asked, shocked at the forwardness of this strange man.
Shade shacked his head slowly, “All
your life you have been ignoring the people that need you the most. People like
your friends, The Heroes, people like your old love Melisa, even the person you
care so much for, even her you turn your back on when she needed you the most.”
“But Rosa…”
“I’m not talking about Rosa,” Shade
said, knowing full well Silver Samurai was trying to deceive him.
Silver Samurai let out a sigh, “I
suppose I am.”
“Don’t be down, my son” Shade said
as he placed his black-sleeved arm on Silver Samurai’s shoulder.
Strange how much this guy liked
black, he was even wearing black gloves.
“We are going to change all the
mistake in your life, right now. Starting with The Heroes.”
“And how am I supposed to do that?”
Silver Samurai questioned, “In case if you didn’t know the Heroes are no more,
there is nothing left but evil shells of the once good men called The Heroes.”
“Don’t be silly, my son.”
Strange how this guy kept referring
to Silver Samurai as his son, he must be very old, and refer to everyone as
son. At least that would explain why he refused to show his face, and kept it
hidden behind the hood of the cloak.
“You see, my son, your mother, that
evil Disgruntled Housewife has got your friends, The Heroes under mind
control.”
“What? That’s impossible my mom has
no special powers, beside being a royal pain in the butt.”
“You are correct when you say your
mother has no magical powers, but she does has the talent to steal, which she
did to take some of your fathers experiments, one of them being the machine to
control other people’s minds.”
It was true Silver Samurai’s father
was not only a great wizard but also an avid scientist. But Silver Samurai
didn’t know of any of his inventions, nor did his father, to Silver Samurai’s
knowledge at least, tell anyone of his experiments before he died, so how did
this man know about them?
“Even if that’s true, Disgruntled
Housewife and the Heroes are in the FWL headquarters, there is no way you and I
alone could break in there, so how can we help my friend.”
“Didn’t your father teach your
anything?”
Silver Samurai wasn’t very pleased
with Shade’s tone of voice. Silver Samurai’s father has been long dead, and
rather not be reminded of it.
“You got to rely on your friends in
need, and have saying that I’m sure the Rainbow Knights will be glad to help if
your asked.”
Leslee introduced Silver Samurai to
The Rainbow Knights once, but he hardly considered them friends.
“I suppose it’s worth a shot,”
Silver Samurai said slowly.
“That’s the spirit,”
A hour later, Silver Samurai and
Shade walked into the fabled Rainbow City. Shade’s magic had gotten them here
in no time, but for some reason the Rainbow Knights wouldn’t let him and Shade
in. Silver Samurai tried to tell them he was a friend of Leslee, but they just
wouldn’t listen. Finally Shade managed to convince them to let them in the city
so they could at least talk.
The talking also took longer than
expected; again The Rainbow Knights were ignoring Silver Samurai’s argument.
But finally after long deliberation it was decided that four out of the five
Rainbow Knights would help us break into FWL tonight and attempt not only the
rescue The Heroes but destroy the machine that was keeping them under mind
control.
“Well that wasn’t so bad,” Shade
said as they exited out into the starry night.
“Yeah right, if I heard Orange
Knight say one more time ‘I don’t think that’s a good idea’ I would have killed
myself,” Silver Samurai said, as he stretched out.
Shade let out a soft chuckle.
“So what’s the big hold up anyways?”
Silver Samurai asked.
“Yellow Knight suggested we wait a
little longer until attack. We hope to catch FWL by surprise when they are
sleeping. If all goes right we should meet little resistance.
“I hope you are right.”
“I certainly hope everyone is
asleep,” Silver Samurai said as he snuck through the FWL headquarters. He was
being lead by the four Rainbow Knights, Orange, Yellow, Purple, and Green
Knight, each of them sporting a suit of colorful armor, matching their names.
Them suits of armors also set off a bright glare from the low-lit hallway
lights. They could be sported from a hundred miles away.
“And just where do you think you are
going?” New Samurai asked as he appeared in front of the group, his black fire
sword, already blazing, ready to strike down all who dared to pass him.
