The Dawn Of A New Day

It was a cold October day, the kind of cold that formed frost on the tip of your nose, five minutes after stepping outside. The sun was setting in the horizon in a forest full of falling leaves of all colors. On top of a tree limb in the distance, a lone figure can be spotted; upon closer inspection we see the figure is the lone ninja known simply as Sparow, dressed in his usual black ninja garb from head to toe. The cold did not bother Sparow, he had survived worse conditions in his life.

It had been a long year for Sparow; he is now nineteen… at least that’s how old he estimates he is. Truth be told Sparow had no clue how old he really was.  His harsh child-hood under his cruel mother seemed nothing but a blur to him now. Sparow never removed his mask, so looking in a mirror would be useless to even try to estimate his age, but nineteen was a good number so that’s the number Sparow decided to go with.

It seemed like only yesterday Sparow found out the shocking truth about his father. The man who he trained he whole life to kill, the man he hated with every fiber of his being, the man known by all as Silver Samurai was none other than his father. It disgusted Sparow he was related to that slime ball, but the news wasn’t all bad. Shortly after finding out the truth about his father, Sparow found out the famous so-called hero was slain by an unknown criminal by the name of Spider. Granted Sparow was a little disappointed he didn’t kill Silver Samurai himself, but regardless Sparow was happy Silver Samurai was dead.

“Hey what are you doing up there,” a female voice asked from below.

Sparow recognized the voice as his wife Ruby. The word wife still perplexes Sparow, the two of them did not love each other, yet they were married to keep the universe from falling apart or some mumble jumble Sparow did not understand. The reality was Ruby probably tricked Sparow in getting married, but that’s ok she didn’t get in his way and actually was quite helpful at times, but Sparow never say that to her face.

Sparow hoped down from the tree trunk and landed gracefully next to Ruby. Ruby was quite an amazing woman, standing a full six feet tall, a whole inch taller than Sparow, and she was stronger than any man he knew. Regardless of her tall and muscular physic, Ruby insisted on wearing rather provocative clothing, her favorite a rather revealing ruby red armor, this was her choice of clothing for today. A normal person would catch cold wearing that kind of outfit, but luckily Ruby was gifted with the magical power of fire, and was keeping herself warm by surrounding herself with an aura of fire.

“So what were you doing up there,” Ruby probed again.

“Nothing,” Sparow lied. Sparow never was one for sharing his thoughts with others, not even with his so-called wife,

“So that’s him,” a mysterious figure in the tree trunks asked.

“Yes that’s Sparow, the son of the famous Silver Samurai,” a second figure in the tree trunks answered. “And it looks like princess Ruby is also with him.”

“It doesn’t matter, she won’t be able to protect him. Soon the children of Silver Samurai will join him in the afterlife.”

Who are these mysterious figures, and why do they want Silver Samurai’s children dead? Only time will tell…

                                                                                                                                                            To be continued…
