New Enemies part 2
The heat was unbearable; the flames were licking at Silver like a happy little dog. The edges of Silver blue scarf that floated behind him were already bunt, Silver hoped that be the only thing that burned.
“Why am
in this mess again?” Silver silently questioned to himself.
“Help!”
the cries of a little boy yelled not to far away.
“Oh
yeah, that’s right.”
With all
the flames and black smoke Silver easily forgot that he had ventured into this
burning building at the request of a pleading mother; she said her son was
still trapped inside. Fires were becoming more frequent these days, usually
started from a bunch of hooligans. Back when Silver was a kid he remembered how
peaceful times were, with his father protecting over the land, now with his
father dead, that land had fallen into chaos. Silver vowed to due all he can
for the innocent people, even if it did seem like a lost cause. Crime was on
the rise, and without a solid hero figure around there would be no one to deter
the criminals.
“Help!”
Silver
snapped out of his thoughts just in time to avoid a falling beam.
“I need to be more careful, and
hurry out of here, before I end up being fried” Silver silently said to
himself.
Silver tried to follow the
sounds of the little boy, but it was tough to pin point his position with the
crackling fire all around him. Silver feared he might not be able to save the
little boy when out of the corner of his eye he spotted something moving in the
corner.
“Relax, I’m here to help you,”
Silver said as he approached the object.
“I want my mommy!” the boy
shouted as he spotted Silver.
“You see her in just a few
moments,” Silver picked up the little boy, and quickly carried him out of the
burning building.
“Mommy!” the little boy shouted
as the exited the burning building, and spotted his mother.
“Timmy!” the mother picked up
her son in a giant hug as he rushed up to her, “How can I ever repay you kind
sir?”
“It’s all in a day’s work,”
Silver said, slightly disappointed he still wasn’t well known enough to be
called by his name, “Now, lets get this fire under control before it spreads.”
Silver looked around for a
possible solution to this fire problem. His fire magic was good for starting
fires, not extinguishing them.
“That’ll work,” Silver said as he
spotted a giant water tower near by.
Silver slowly walked over to the
water tower and examined its 4 wooden base poles closely. Silver reach for his
sheathed sword, and in one swift motion, unsheathed his sword, sliced through
one of the wooden poles, and re-sheathed his sword, all in a split second. The
towers, no longer able to support its own weight on 3 wooden poles, collapsed
right on top of the burning building. The one hundred gallons of water quickly
extinguished the blazing fire.
“I’m impressed,” a new voice
said as he clapped for Silver’s good work.
‘Thank you,” Silver said as he
bowed slightly to the stranger.
The man was about Silver’s
height; he had neatly combed blond hair, and wore shiny black sunglass to
conceal his eyes. An opened long white lab coat, revealed black clothing and a
strange small pole like object attached at his belt.
“You did everything as I
expected,” the man said, “My name is Vertex; I have studied your every move,
your fighting style, everything, you will be a cinch to kill.”
“I’m guessing you started this
fire… well lets see exactly how much you like playing with fire, Twin dragons!”
Silver raised his hand high in the air, producing his trademarks fire dragons.
The dragons charged towards
Vertex, but strangely he made no effort to avoid the attack. Vertex stood still
as the dragons engulfed him in flames.
“Gee, I feel bad, I only wanted
to scared him not make his a burned corpse,” Silver said to himself.
“What kind of fool do you take
me for?” Vertex questioned, as the fire passed, “My coat is fire proof, like I
said I know your every move. Now it’s my turn,” vertex removed the small pole
object from his belt and clicked a button on it. In a second the pole extended
to roughly five feet long with three curved metal spikes protruding from each
end of the bizarre weapon. Vertex then charged ready to strike with his new
weapon.
“Obviously you don’t know me two
well, Blue Flare!” Silver extended his hand, producing the bright blue light
the blinds anyone in the area.
Vertex seemed unfazed by the
attack, and continues his charge towards Silver. Silver barely managed to avoid
the strike of Vertex.
“Surprised?” Vertex laughed, “I
told you, I know your every move, your blue flare is useless against someone
wearing sun glasses.”
“So magic won’t work,” Silver
drew his sword, “Guess I have to do things the old fashion way.”
“That won’t work either,” Vertex
raised his metal staff to block Silver blow.
“I have more than one weapon,”
with Silver left hand he grabbed hold on his metal sheath. With Vertex’s weapon
up high blocking Silver’s sword, Silver swung his sheath hard into Vertex’s
ribs.
“You cheated,” Vertex coughed,
as he dropped to one knee, “What happened to your father’s broad sword, you
never used this katana before?”
Silver shrugged, “This is still
my father’s legendary Fire Sword, I just had a friend reshaped the sword for
something more suited for me. My father’s old sword was really too big and
bulky for someone my size, I needed a much slimmer quicker weapon.”
“I need time to study your new
fighting styles, rest assure I will be back soon to kill you,” Vertex slumped
away.
Silver scratched his head, “Boy
for not being a famous hero, I certainly get a lot of trying to kill me.”
“So you lost too?” a seductive
females voice asked as Vertex slumped around the corner.
“Its not my fault,” Vertex
objected.
“Relax hunnie, this job just
requires a female touch,” the female replied, “Tomorrow will be the end for
Silver.”
