The Nightmare Ends
“Owe, my
head.”
“Bout
time you woke up.”
“Sparow?”
Silver’s
vision slowly returned to him. Sitting across from him was indeed his half
brother Sparow. “What are you doing here?”
Sparow shrugged,
“All I know is it seems like even in death, you’re no good father is causing me
problems.”
“Hey,
he’s your father too,” Silver, protested.
Sparow
stared coldly at Silver, than slowly looked away. “Don’t remind me.”
An
awkward silence followed. Silver used this time to check out his surroundings.
Both him and his brother were locked up in what looked like an old dungeon jail
cell. Outside of the cell was nothing but darkness; a small-bared window high
above supplied the only light in the cell.
“Looks
like they are finally awake.”
“That
voice,” Silver said to himself.
Just
then the room was lighted up with dim lights. The room outside of the cell was
almost as bare as the jail cell, accept for a few security monitors high above
the room was empty.
Into the
room walked an old man Silver recognized almost immediately, Nightmare.
Nightmare had been Silver’s father’s first enemy, and many times the most
deadly. But today was different, Nightmare was a washed up villain. At the age
of at least fifty Nightmare’s hair was graying, which matched his already gray
full beard that hadn’t been shaved in months, perhaps years. Nightmare wore a
faded black battle suit that hardly fit anymore, thanks in part to Nightmare
rather large beer belly.
Behind
Nightmare walked a lady that might be considered attractive if not for her icy
cold stare. She however was dressed much nicer than Nightmare; she let her long
black hair flow freely down her back, and wore shiny black armor.
“You!”
Sparow lunged at the lady from behind his bars.
The lady
was of course the cold-hearted Celes, mother of Sparow.
“Oh my
dear Sparow, you still don’t understand, do you?” Celes seemed to take joy out
of mocking Sparow. “Haven’t you realized by now, why I hate your father so
much? Why I used you as a pawn to kill him… which may I remind you, you
couldn’t even do that.”
“The
answer is simple,” Nightmare answered for Sparow. “It’s because he couldn’t
protect her from me.”
“You se
Sparow before I gave birth to you, my failure of a son, I gave birth to
another. I named him Raven.” Celes turned towards Nightmare, “And this oath was
the father.”
“Why
would you team up with Nightmare after what he did to you?” Silver questioned.
Celes
shrugged, “Mutual enemy. You see we both hate Silver Samurai so much, we want
him to suffer even in the afterlife; that is why you two, his only children
need to die.”
“We
would have had Raven kill you earlier, but,” Night gave a smile that made
Silver sick to his stomach. “We want to watch every minute of your slow painful
death.”
Suddenly
the security monitors flickered to life. On the screen was town women rushing
through concrete hallways. Silver recognized both women right away. The
beautiful lady in blue armor was his wife Sapphire. Next to her in revealing
red armor, was her sister, Ruby, also wife to Sparow.
“Troublesome
girls,” Celes said under her breath. “Come Nightmare lets get rid of the
intruders before we deal with these brats.”
Nightmare
followed Celes out of the room.
Another
long silence followed.
Soon two
figures appeared on the security monitors to stop the girls, but it wasn’t
Nightmare and Celes; instead it was Crimson and a man with large black wings
protruding from his back, Silver could only guess that was Raven. It wasn’t
long before a fight broke out with Crimson squaring off against Sapphire and
Raven facing Ruby. Amazingly Crimson was keeping up with Sapphire’s lightning
quick blows and Raven was having no problems avoiding Ruby’s attacks.
It was
obvious if the two of them had any hope of escaping her alive, they have to do
it themselves.
“So I
guess Raven’s nightmare got you too?” Silver asked breaking the silence,
Sparow
just stared at Silver.
“About
your mother right?”
Sparow’s
stare grew colder.
“Listen,
I know how you feel.”
“How can
you possibly know how I feel,” Sparow yelled.
“I know
how it feels to be betrayed by your own mother. Did you know it was my mother’s
betrayal that left our father vulnerable that faithful day…” Silver trailed
off. “The point is you can’t let what happen in the past haunt you.”
Sparow
laughed, “And exactly how often do you have nightmares about your father’s
death?”
It was
Silver’s turn to remain silent.
“Your
father had many enemies, it was only a matter of time before someone killed
him, I only wish it was me.” Sparow paused and smiled to himself, perhaps
thinking about what it would have been like to kill their father. Sooner or
later he would have died. It’s about time you realize that and move on with
your life.
“I
suppose you are right,” Silver said slowly. Despite Sparow’s demented thinking,
he was right; father had many enemies, it was only a matte of time before one
of them finished him off/ His father would always be remembered but there be no
more his death.
“And
perhaps you are right about Celes. I will forever hate her for what she did,
but I will not let her haunt my past.” Sparow rose to his feet, with a new
determination in his eyes. “Now lets get out of here.”
“How do
you plan on doing that?” Silver questioned
“I did
learn a few things from that witch of a mother.” Sparow flashed what almost seemed
like a smile.
Sparow
removed a small object from his belt and slid his arms through the metal bars.
He proceeded to fiddle around with the front of the metal loc, a couple seconds
later the lock popped open, freeing them.
“Come on
let’s get out of here,” Sparow said as he rushed out the cell door.
“You don’t
have to tell me twice.” Silver rushed after Sparow.
The two
did not get far, at the exit to the room stepped Nightmare, followed closely by
Celes.
“Where
do you think you two are going?” Nightmare asked
“We are
leaving and you can’t stop us,” Silver said defiantly.
“Did you
forget my powers?” Nightmare asked with a sinister smile. “Perhaps I need to
remind you.”
Nothing happened.
“That
won’t work on us anymore,” Sparow said calmly. “I no longer fear my past. But
mother dearest.” Sparow was mocking now. “I’m still gonna kill you.”
Celes
said nothing. Instead she stared coldly at Sparow as if daring him to attack
her.
Sparow
drew his sword.
“Hold it
Sparow,” Silver stepped in front of Sparow. “I want the first shot, for my
father’s sake. I realize now his death was unavoidable, but I will finish his
unfinished business by defeating you Nightmare.”
“How
exactly do you plan on doing that?” Nightmare asked in a mocking voice.
“Just
watch,” Silver was quickly surrounded by blue flames. “Samurai White… err Blue
Fireball!”
It was
his father’s trademark attack; the blue flames around Silver came together to
form a huge fireball in front of Silver. The fireball grew bigger each passing
moment, soon even bigger than Silver. Then with a sudden push it was off
heading towards its target Nightmare at blazing speed.
And with
ease Nightmare deflected the blast with his bare arm, sending the large
fireball crashing into the security monitors.
Among
the rain of sparks laughter was heard from Nightmare, Celes, and even Sparow.
“Boy,
that attack never worked for your father.” Nightmare said in between his fits
of laughter.
“Let me
show you how its done.” Sparow stepped in front of Silver, so he had a clean
shot. “Ice-Fire!”
The
powerful ice magic of Sparow’s bounced effortlessly off of Celes’ black armor.
“What
kind of fool do you take me for? Celes asked “This armor is resistant to ice…
you didn’t think I was dumb enough to leave myself unprotected from your
pitiful magic now did you?
“Face
it, you two are just kids, you have no chance of beating us,” Nightmare
gloated.
“We’ll
see about that,” Silver stepped next to Sparow, “I do have a few tricks of my
own. Twin Dragons!”
Silver stretched
his hand straightforward and out of his hand sprung two long streaks of blue
fire. The tips of both fire streaks soon formed into a figure of a dragonhead.
The two dragons roared as they charged both Celes and Nightmare. The dragons
quickly wrapped themselves around their targets, but that wouldn’t be enough to
defeat them.
“I think
its time for your magic trick brother,” Silver said to Sparow.
Sparow’s
ice hit both dragons, freezing them instantly, leaving both Celes and Nightmare
venerable inside the grasps of both frozen dragons.
“I think
its time we end this.” Silver readied his sword.
Sparow
nodded.
Both of
them charged, ready to strike down their intended victims. Their swords however
did not meet flesh but rather steel, the steel of Ravens rather large sword.
“I think
a retreat is advisable for today. But rest assure this is not over.” Raven said
before effortlessly pushing both Silver and Sparow to the ground with his huge
sword.
By time
Silver got back to his feet, Raven and his parents were gone.
“Raven…”
Sparow said to himself.
“Come
on, lets check on the girls,” Silver said as he rushed out of the room.
Sparow
slowly followed.
The nightmares
may be over, but how long before the brothers are attacked next? What will
Silver and Sparow do, now that they are hunted men?
To
be continued…
