Baeris Kshau's Healing Den
"Well, I can't exactly say I'm glad of the fact." Nirana mused, a furrow appearing on her brow. Have I upset you? I'm sorry, I won't talk about that any more! Lurineth asked anxiously, craning her neck over and nudging her rider gently. Nirana smiled and patted the golden muzzle. "That's all right, Luri, I was just thinking. I think I'll sign you up to fly at the Healing Den, shall I?" she reassured the queen. Okay. That Svatith sure is a nice-looking bronze.. Lurineth commented, shifting over into a better position for surveying the Weyrbowl. Nirana snorted in exasperation. "For Faranth's sake, Luri, stop being such a-a...ugh." the queenrider couldn't find a proper epithet and so just glared at her dragon. I want my bath now, let's go down to the lake. Lurineth said suddenly, standing up and spreading her translucent golden wings. Nirana vaulted onto her queen's shining neck and they glided down to the soon-to-be-not-tranquil water. Lurineth immediately dived into the lake without even waiting for her rider to get off. Fortunately Nirana was a good swimmer. Even so, she came up sputtering in indignation. "LURINETH! You little wherry!" she exclaimed heatedly, swatting at her partly submerged dragon.
Lurineth lounged indolently on her ledge, glowing more than ever now, with her flight time approaching. Nirana was busy oiling her queen, her arms shining in the bright sunlight. As she rubbed Lurineth's supple hide, the young woman admired her golden lifemate, still marveling that she, and she alone, had been chosen as Lurineth's rider. The now full-grown queen was still only a little longer than the biggest bronze, but could outfly the best of them. Lurineth had a lovely light gold hide, her wing membranes almost a translucent yellow. She had perfectly proportioned legs and pinions, a long graceful neck, and a delicately sculpted head with elegantly elongated, intelligently whirling eyes. I am as beautiful as you are, my rider. We are one, are we not? Lurineth intoned, her long pink tongue flicking out to caress Nirana's shoulder affectionately. "Yes, Luri, we are together!"

Though Lurineth slipped down to the Sands quietly enough so that no one heard, Nirana knew. The young woman slid out of her furs, careful not to disturb B'din, and crept down after her queen. Lurineth grumbled a little when she saw her rider, but continued laying her third egg.
By the end of the day, Lurineth was finished and allowed the curious, eager weyrfolk and riders to come in. She hissed if any came too near, her eyes whirling a protective red. How many eggs, darling? Nirana inquired. Lurineth snorted. Come on, love, how many? her rider repeated. The golden queen rumbled again but grudgingly answered Ten. One may be a queen.
"Ten fine eggs, and one could be a queen!" Nirana announced to the waiting weyrfolk. Cheers greeted her words.
