About Our Council
Grand Terrace Knights of Columbus Council 12050 was organized through the efforts of Brother Knights in Loma Linda Council 9037 living in Grand Terrace and surrounding areas. Membership Director Leo Vinzon, Fr. Robert Tomkins of Christ the Redeemer Parish, Grand Knight William Kotlensky and Brothers Manuel Palencia, Bob Butkus and Charles Hershey spearheaded the new council's development. A charter organizational meeting was held on September 4, 1997 at Christ the Redeemer Parish Hall. A total of 18 Brother Knights transferred from the Loma Linda Council to the new Grand Terrace Council. These along with 14 additional Brother Knights joining the Grand Terrace Council constituted the charter members of the new council. Installation of officers for the charter council was conducted by District Deputy Dan Krafcisin on November 8, 1997.

The Council is named after our city located in southern California. Grand Terrace Council works closely with Christ the Redeemer Parish in Grand Terrace, providing funds for various projects, members being active participants in their parish.

A Word from Your Grand Knight

Brothers,

1 Cor. 12:12 points out that as a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body. So also are the Knights of Columbus and in keeping a strong fraternal body we must keep adding new members. We must exert our best effort behind our Membership Drive on Feb. 17&18, 2001. BE NOT AFRAID TO LIFT UP THE CROSS, ask someone to join!!!

On January 14th, Pro-Life Sunday our Worthy Inside Guard Ed Bourke organized a Pro-Life March in front of Christ Redeemer. On hand were Ed Bourke, Mike Bigelow, Joe Green, Bob Butkus, and Joe Ramirez. Thank-you Brother Ed, GREAT JOB!

Brothers, my proudest moment as Grand Knight was the Clergy Night event. Everyone deserves a pat on the back. The event ran smoothly, thanks to everyone's cooperation. From the Host Hour, to serving of meals, to clean up was like clockwork. Our aprons, with the K. of C. emblem, drew a lot of attention. They stood out only because of the Knights wearing them and the good job that they did. We received a lot of compliments on our efforts in this event Brothers which proves that:

WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THRU CHRIST WHOM STRENGTHENS US!!! Thank You Jesus.

VIVAT JESUS

Membership Drive

The Council is planning its second membership drive of the council year which ends in June. This membership drive will be held on the weekend of February 17th and 18th.

The Council is planning on recruiting new members before and after the Saturday and Sunday Masses of this weekend. Also planned is an information orientation meeting during the week following the drive. Both husbands and wives will be invited to the orientation meeting.

Council members are needed to help recruit. New members are always needed to revitalize the council with new ideas, so it is important that the Council continues to grow. If you would like to help, plan on staying after the Mass you attend to give a hand. Brother Joe Greene is spearheading this campaign. Give Joe a call at 686-6739 if you can help out or if you know the name of a prospective member.

From the Desk of the Financial Secretary

By Leo Vinzon

This month Grand Terrace Council donated $731.12 to Peppermint Ridge, a home for the mentally disabled in Corona, California. The moneys were the result of our yearly Mentally Retarded Drive held this past fall.

The Council also donated $250.00 to Christ the Redeemer from money’s raised at the Arrowhead Desert Valley’s Annual Clergy Night held at Christ the Redeemer on January 26th.

We Knights are proud to contribute to our church and our community.

Yard Sale

The Council is planning a Yard Sale on March 3rd. This is still in the planning stages, but we would like to get a jump start on this one. If you have any items which you wish to donate, please contact any Council officer to arrange for pick up or delivery.
