On Alec and Tommy
Why the name, Alec? Wasn't Su Youpeng known as Tommy all these while ever since he started out as the Little Tigers with Nicky Wu and Chen Zhipeng a few years back?
"Actually, I really did not like the name. Back then when I was younger, my company thought we should adopt a more 'teenybopper and boyish' name, so they decided to call me Tommy. Now that I'm more matured, I would want to change my name to something that suits me better," says Alec matter-of-factly.
So does he live up to the image of 'Smart-Alec-Su' since he has always been known for being a studious student in school?
"Well, I don't know about that. I guess I didn't really think about it," Alec replies.
Lastly, when asked if Alec would be starring in the 3rd series of My Fair Princess, he says: "Probably, although I doubt Zhao Wei would want to play Xiao Yan Zi for the third time. I think she's hoping to jump out of her stereotyped role and venture into other areas like acting in movies. But nonetheless, we were still talking about how the third series would be - that perhaps we would have a Lao Yan Zi (an old sparrow instead of a young one) and some kids this time. But on second thoughts, I might consider rejecting the role myself because if I did, it would mean I have to shave bald again!" Now, all you fans out there wouldn't want that, would you?
Alec and 'Aunty' Qiong Yao
Reports had it that Alec fell out with novelist Qiong Yao (one who wrote My Fair Princess) when he took time off his rest days (during the filming of Huan Zhu Ge Ge in China) to record his songs in Taiwan after having fallen off a horse. But according to Alec, the 'rumor' is totally unfounded.
"At that time, our acting schedule was very tight, so I could not take time off to complete my recording. When I fell off the horse, Aunty Qiong Yao gave me some time off to rest. However, as I was not that seriously wounded, I thought I would just make use of the time I have to complete my album in Taiwan; especially since I only had a minor wrist injury - it was not as though I lost my voice or legs and could not sing or move around - one needn't be bedridden all the times just because you're feeling unwell. But I must admit it's my fault that I did not inform her about my decision. I should have done that out of respect since she was so concerned about me. So it's all a misunderstanding. She's not furious with me, perhaps (she's) just somewhat annoyed. The reporter who blew the incident up must be out of his mind! There was no need for him to speculate how Aunty Qiong Yao and I felt." elaborates a slightly irritated Alec.
On being the third party between Jimmy Lin and Lin Xinru
When asked if he knew what really happened between Jimmy Lin and Lin Xinru when the two broke up and if he was the third party who caused them to go their separate ways, Alec had this to say: "Frankly, I don't know what happened between them. It's ridiculous to link all of us together. We're all just friends."
And we thought he just said Xinru and him are 'close' friends?!) What does he make of the
Jimmy Lin and Hong Kong spoilt brat Nicholas Tse? "Oh gosh, no! And why did and would anyone think so? We are all so different except for the fact that we may be of almost the same age!" protests an exasperated Alec.
Alec and 'Zi Wei' (His co star, Lin Xinru's character in Huan Zhu Ge Ge)
I swear Alec must have been probed mercilessly for at least 5 times (and possibly more) about his supposed 'relationship' with co-star Lin Xinru throughout the press conference. However, the actor-singer seems to be oh-so-used to the press's bombardment as he repeatedly answers the questions and talks about his 'love interest' (or the lack of it, rather) patiently.
It all started off with subtle queries of whether Alec has already seen Lin Xinru's newly released pictorial album. We waited with bated breath as Alec replies with a positive 'Yes'. This proliferated a subsequent string of follow-ups, with inquiries pertaining from what he thinks of his sweet colleague and her photo collage.
"She gives me the impression of a confident and modern woman. Her pictorial collection is very nice. And, she's quite popular now, so there's really no need for her to dress scantily in her collage," says Alec diplomatically.
What does Alec look for in his dream girl? Would she be someone like Lin Xinru?
"She must be gentle and considerate. We must also be able to communicate well. Xinru and I are so 'close' that we know each other too well, so we can't and won't be able to fall in love!" quips Alec.
"If I can help it, I would prefer my other half to be a non-artiste because I think the entertainment scene is a little too complex and complicated. In fact, I might constantly worry about our relationship if she's one," adds Alec who ended his relationship with his ex-girlfriend a couple of years ago when he found it hard to cope with a long-distance romance.
When asked if he would invite Xinru to be his special guest star when he holds his concert in China, he says that he would try to invite her but maintains that there is absolutely nothing between them and they are merely good friends.
Sometimes, people can be so wuliao (nothing better to do) when they try to foster and forge 'something' between you and your co-actress. I guess even if we did have a chance to fall in love, we've missed it. Now we don't feel romantically attracted to each other. In other words, we just can't laidian (spark off mutual interest),"explains a helpless Alec.
Alec and Ruby are filming "The Big Winner" in Singapore and reporter say that they seems as if they were dating. They were shopping and eating together, some people say Alec was looking happy. Oh no! Can this be true? After all of our wishes for Alec and Vicki to be together and now it turn out Alec with some one else. Why can't Alec and Vicki be together? Well I hope Qiong Yau finish writing that series for Alec and Vicki, I want to see them back together on the screen again. (news from
