While sorting through threads on a mailing list I'm on, I came across a thread about Scientology.
I had heard of it, but never known anything about it. I followed a link to Operation Clambake. I followed more links, just randomly looking, and I found this.
It's a memorial page dedicated to Lisa McPherson, a victim of Scientology. I continued looking through the site, and I followed the links to the most graphic of her autopsy photographs. I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach.
The only thing I could think was a short prayer. "Please, please don't let this happen to anyone else." Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of power. I live in America, where we have freedom of religion.
This is a good thing. I don't want our freedom of religion taken away. Therefore, I won't say, "Shut down the "church" of Scientology." However much of a good thing that would be. The following are links to places where you can find out more information about why so many people are anti-Scientology.
The Lisa McPherson Trust. OFFLINESonline: Freedom from Scientology Testimonies of supporters and critics of Scientology and Dianetics. Ex-Scientologists Speak. To be fair, I'm linking to the Scientology website. Nice and innocent and helpful sounding, aren't they? Scientology Home Page.
