Just to let you know. This is my reserch report that I did in 5th grade which earned me a 48 out of 50. An A, 96%. Julius Shareef Abdur-Rahim was born on December 11th, 1976. Shareef was born in Marietta, Georgia. Reef is 6'9" and 230 lbs. Rahim is a devout Muslim. Shareef is polite, unselfish, and a tireless worker. For college, Shareef went to the University of California. His 2nd choice was the Univesity of Kentucky. Shareef's nicknames are The Future and Reef. Shareef's first name means "noble" and his last name means "servant of the merciful one." Shareef went to Wheeler High School. He was an All-Star First Team member in the McDonald's basketball tournament. Shareef was named Georgia's "Mr. Basketball" twice. Abdur-Rahim was named "Player-of-the -year" in the state of Georgia by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club. Reef's final stats at Wheeler High School were 31.0 points per game, 12.4 rebounds per game, and a field goal percentige of .719. Shareef went to the University of California at Bearkley. Abdur-Rahim received the Pac-10 Freshman-of-the Year award. Shareef was named to the Third-Team All-America by the Associated Press (AP). Shareef was the only freshman to receive the Pac-10 Player-of-the- Year award. Shareef played center at his only year at the university. Sociology was his favorite college course. His college stats were 21.1 points per game, a total of 590 points, 8.4 rebounds a game, with a total of 236 rebounds, and a field goal percentige of .518. Shareef started out on the Grizzlies as a power forward. Now he is a small forward. Although, Shareef was brought up as a center. Rahim was drafted in the 1st round 3rd pick. Rahim was on the 1996-97 NBA All-Rookie First Team. He was the only unanimous selection in the group. Shareef was a two time winner of the NBA "Rookie-of-the-Month." Rahim was chosen to the Rookie game at All-Star weekend. He scored 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. He was third in balloting for the Rookie of the Year award. Abdur-Rahim was the TSN Rookie of the Year. He led the Grizzlies in scoring and was 25th in the NBA and 2nd among rookies. His first career triple double was on Feb. 19,1997 against the Phoenix Suns. He had 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Shareef once said "It hasn't been a cakewalk. You have to be willing to work." He was voted by the readers of NBA Inside Stuff as the "Most Underrated Player." Shareef's agent is Aaron Goodwin.(Last I heard)His fan club is "Team Reef." Well that's my report.
