BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Buffy Ann Summers, a 17 year old student at Sunnydale High School, is shocked one day to discover that she is the "Vampire Slayer".  This discovery was made during her time at Hemery High School in Los Angeles.  She was approached by a man called Merrick who told her he was to be her Watcher.  It was his job to look after her and train her for her destiny.  However, he was killed before Buffy moved to Sunnydale in 1996 after being expelled from Hemery High after burning down the gymnasium!  She did have a good excuse though, as the gym was full of vampires!.  Her parents divorced after this incident and Buffy and her mum, Joyce moved to Sunnydale in order to start a new life.  She became friendly with popular high school girl Cordelia Chase but was promptly dumped by Cordelia after becoming friendly with computer geek Willow Rosenberg.  She also became very friendly with Willow's best friend Xander Harris.  On her first day at Sunnydale High, she met her new watcher, Rupert Giles, who was a very English school librarian.
