Here is some info bout Riley: It all started with a pitchfork...(and good looks!) His life in boots... Some spurs attached With a pair of chaps and some cowboy boots... A boy and his horse Got my horse, Got my dog.... Riley Smith was born a cowboy. Some even say he could ride before he could walk. But what kid couldn't ride who lived on a quarter horse ranch that was home to over 60 horses? What began as a daily chore turned out to be natural talent and a real love of horses. An idea known to horsemen all over the world, Riley pulls it all together when he says, "once horses are in your blood, you can't get them out!" (How true...) Riley began really getting involved in the Quarter Horse world in 1996, when he became the Vise President of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association (AQHYA) at age 14 (WOW). His success continued into the next year, when he became President of the association at age 15. At that time, the association had somewhere around 50,000 members, most of whom were and are involved in a challenging program called the Wrangler All Stars. As if this exhibiting his leadership skills wasn't enough, Riley had been showing his family's champion horses through the years. But the apex of his showing career came at the young age of 16, when he won the AQHYA World Championships in 1998. This Championship is the goal of almost every competetive western rider.Truly, the quarter horse world had an extremely talented young man on their hands. But this was not to be his destiny, at least, not as a teenager. His dad later sold his horse, but the horse resides near Riley's won current residence in Hollywood. He rides when he can and still believes he will love horses forever, and that no matter where his life takes him, he will always be able to turn back to his beloved childhood pleasure. With a Toothy Smile and a Twinkle in his eyes Chance of a Lifetime Brush those teeth... Lose weight while lifting weights.... What the equestrian world lost, was the modelilng and acting industries' great gain. As a senior on high school, friends and talent scouts encouraged Riley to try modeling or maybe even acting. Modeling requires confidence, flexibility, attitude and good looks, none of which Riley lacked. Always on the lookout for adventure, he immediately moved to New York. While in the Big Appple, he modeled for elite companies such as Tommy Hilfiger, Armani, and Palzileri. But his big break really came in his campaign with Paco Sprots when he found himself on a huge billboard in Times Square. If only Abercrombie had discovered him--he would have looked great on one of their bags! Riley, by now, had traveled al over the world and realized something wasn't quite right. He really liked modeling but he knew he was looking for something different. I guess acting must have looked pretty cool because he make the decision to move to Hollywood (how does he get all this money?), where the stars are born. Lights, Camera, Action When He Finally Broke Through When Modeling Isn't Enough Going Hollywood "Some people have all the luck" is a popular saying. "Some people" must have included Riley Smith. He hosted American Teen Video Magazine and starred in movies such as Voodoo Academy and Bring It On. He starred as Dean Talon (where do they get these names?) in Disney's Motocrossed, Michael Lampson in Lover's Lane, and Josh Harding in "Wild Grizzly". He is a series regular on WB's Learning Curve and Minor Threat. Riley also stars as Wes Bentley from American Beauty in Another Teen Movie, coming soon. He has a recurring role in Gideon's Crossing, and is filming a pilot for next season with Patrick Dempsey. Does this guy ever stop? Obviously not because he has a new movie coming in May. Some say he is one of the busiest young actors in Hollywood. He just finished filming Arac Attack, a movie about the attack of giant spiders, which is coming sometime during Summer 2001. Also, look for him in a guest-starring role in next season's Alecia. There is a rumor that he may take a starring role in a type of Black Beauty 2. But no one knows for sure. Riley loves acting and believes he has found his niche. He has been a real blessing in all three worlds and we all hope he will continue in his current success. He is extremely talented, and you can be sure, no matter where fate takes him, he will work at it with all his heart. The Man Himself Personality Unveiled... Even through all the accomplishmints Riley has had, he is a regular kid. His birthday is April 12, this Thursday, and he will be nineteen. He will be close to the same age as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. He loves country music, and when encouraged by others to become part of a Backstreet Boys type thing, he refused, saying his first love is the things of the west. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 150. His shoe size is a 10 and he has excelled at theater and athletics at school since he was young. He has brownish-blonde hair and the most wonderful hazel-colored eyes. He claims to be a Christian and heaven help him in everything he does! It is a mystery about the girlfriend question, but we suspect we might have chance at him when he gets gray and old and creaky. LOL!! As for the real Riley behind the stage makeup, our research has caused us to believe him to be a sweet and humble person and we would consider it an honor to be able to meet him someday.
