Mistletoe State Park

February 22-24, 2002

The gang ready to go.  Thank goodness for software to enhance pictures.  Yes, it's DARK out!  This weekend we go to Mistletoe State Park and work on the Orienteering Merit Badge.  Four new scouts join us for their first campout.

We've been told for years this is one of the most beautiful parks.  We never got to it till now.  They were right.  We set up in the Pioneer Campground.  VERY nice.  It's remote (i.e. away from everyone else) and gives the scouts plenty of room to explore.

A shot of the lake.  You can sure tell there has been a drought.  We'd guess the water level was down 10 to 15 feet.  Actually, that made it interesting.  We could walk to what were islands and all along the shoreline.  There are a lot of peninsulas so around every corner there's a different view and something to explore.

The Cobras and Dragons set up their area.  Some scouts said it was cold.  We don't call 34 degrees in the morning cold!  Just wait guys.
