RESULTS FROM THE 1999 LIBERTY OCTOBER TOURNAMENT | |
| A total of 26 chessplayers
participated in the Liberty October Tournament, held on
30 October 1999 at Liberty High School in Colorado
Springs. It was a six round G/20 event with four quick
rated and two nonrated sections, determined by actual or
estimated player ratings arranged in decreasing order.
With one exception the format used was a double round
robin within groups of size four. Because the number of
participants opting for rated play was not divisible by
four, the lowest quick rated section contained six
players, and it was run as a "double Swiss".
(See its crosstable below.) Larry Wutt organized the tournament on behalf of the Liberty High School Chess Club and Southern Colorado Chess. The directors were Ken Schwartz and Roy Heath. The following players won prizes.
