Results from the 2000 Liberty August Tournament

The Liberty August Tournament was held on 26 August 2000 at Liberty High School in Colorado Springs. It was a 4SS G/30 event with both a rated and a nonrated section. Larry Wutt organized the tournament on behalf of the Liberty High School Chess Club and Southern Colorado Chess. The directors were Ken Schwartz and Roy Heath.

In the 20 player rated section, Joe Bihlmeyer and Buck Buchanan both scored 3.5 to tie for first place, taking home $25 apiece. Andrew Gibson, David Lee, and James Lovejoy shared the U1200/Unr prize at 2.0 points, each winning $6.

Larry Wutt took the $20 first prize in the 8 player nonrated section by winning all four of his games. Peter Sekovski scored 3.0 points to earn the $12 second prize.
