Conbrio

Oh it seemed...
Michael David Coffey

Oh it seemed the pain
was unconquerable
The past days it
buried me in quicksand
And all I could do
was breathe deeply
Silently suffering and
lamenting the ways
of my world

Oh it seemed intolerable --
our parting
It was unbearable
and all I could do
was sit silently
Suffocating in your absence
in the ocean's heavy swell
And dream of another
time
When my world was
a kinder place

Oh it seemed cruel
and unreasonable
And I suffered endlessly
Weighted down by the
oppressive clouds
of a somber season
Still, quiet, contemplative
Thinking of our togetherness
and our parting

Oh it seemed endless
and the pain incurable
Then, like a sunbeam
from the strike of an
angel's harp
It changed -- the day
became bright
And I rejoiced
I played
Thinking gently
and my day
was filled with your love
