Virtually all of the major religions have, as a major component, an annihilation of virtually all life, or an apocalypse.  However, three of these religions go so far as to give an actual date for this event. Three separate cultures, on three separate continents in three separate times predict an apocalyptic event between the years 1999 to 2012.  Can this be mere coincidence?
The Mayan calendar, which was accurate enough to predict solar and lunar eclipses, foretold of a "time when a holy man-child shall cause the seas to the west to roil and the land under our feet to tremble and at the end of the sheaf of years the earth shall be swallowed by Quetzalcoatl the feathered serpent".  The "holy man child" is most often translated as El Nino.  Quetzalcoatl was believed, by the Mayan, to be the creator and destroyer of the universe.  The "sheaf of years" is due to be finished on September 14, 2012.  This is the last date on all Mayan calendars.
In a rare Hindu manuscript, carbon dated to approximately 750 BC, The god Vishnu states that "Before one million days have passed I shall gather those remaining who have failed to exit the cycle (of reincarnation) and bring them before me to be judged".
Just opposite of the Valley of the Kings in Egypt is the recently excavated tomb of Rachscha, Grand Vizier and Prophet to Ptolemy The First, Pharaoh of both upper and lower Egypt.  In his tomb is a prayer to Horace, which reads, in part, "Horace, god of the underworld, take my body and soul with you when the living world is annihilated by your hand two generations after the Hittites sully the river of life".  The Hittites are believed to be the ancestors of the Jews now living in the Middle East.  In 1967 Israel captured the Gaza strip and advanced all the way to the Nile.

"I shall gather those remaining who have failed to exit the cycle and bring them before me to be judged."
