Update Written:::::: June 10th, 2001

AVS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right people! I knew it the whole time! The Avs played all season like a Stanley Cup deserving team, and now they accomplished their 16W goal! Last night, the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup and dethroned the New Jersey Devils, the defending Stanley Cup Champions! The series went to a rare game seven, only the 11th time! Besides the great skill and heart in this team, the statistics were all for the Avs. The last two teams that won game seven hosted the All Star game the same year. 72% of the teams that win the first game of the Round 4 Series win the cup. The Avalanche outscored the New Jersey Devils 15-2 in their four round 4 victories! Patrick Roy was voted MVP and recieved the Conn Smyth Trophy. Ray Bourque finally got his first Stanley Cup in his illustrious 22 year carreer. Joe Sakic, the Avalanche Captain probably had the cup for the shortest skate in history, having it handed to him, then immediatly thrusting it into Ray Bourques awaiting and deserving hands!
