Colorado Scenery - Yankee Boy Basin
This beautiful trail can be negotiated by most passenger cars, in good weather, up to the Imogene Pass turnoff (approximately six miles). After that 4 wheel drive is recommended as the road gets a little bumpy and you have quite a few streams to cross. To get there you go south of Ouray on US highway 550 to the Camp Bird Mine turnoff (this is also the turnoff for Box Canyon Falls) the road is marked County Road 361. At approximately 5 miles is the Camp Bird Mine, the road then narrows and starts to climb. We didn't go much farther than the public toilet, at about Mile 7, as there was snow blocking the road.
