Iron Man was first seen in Tales of Suspense number 39 and was created by Marvel's leading writer Stan Lee. He eventually received his own self titled book in 1968. The first series ran for nearly 30 years and totaled at 332 issues. Iron Man also became one of Marvels top sellers and as such he appeared in many other comics teaming up with other Marvel hero's to battle the evil that threatens earth. Iron Man was most notably seen in the Avenger series.
Volume 2 hit the shelves in 1996 and only ran for 13 issues. This series was placed in a alter dimension similar to earth. This series was much darker and colder than the other two. In the first issue along a dear friend of Stark dies while testing a new armor. Tony felt little remorse and could seemingly not care. Later when Iron Man, along with many other Marvel heros, finally realized that they were living not in there own dimension they found a way to escaped. All but Dr. Doom made their way back to their proper dimension to begin volume 3.
Volume 3 came out in 1998 and was a early success. Stark once again took on a more mature role and made several major decisions early on. One of which was about what to do about his company that has in his absence split. Stark decides to not retake the entire company and in return sets up Stark Solutions, a highly priced consulting firms. Stark now dedicates more time to solving problem boosting his popularity and at the same time funneling the fruits of his labor into charities. This new additude makes Stark nearly as popular and honorable as his alter ego Iron Man. |

Finally updated! Got rid of the issues page due to marvel no longer posting info about comics and my alternate site shut down. Also got rid of the comic deals page because I don't have the cash to be purchasing large amounts of comics right now. Also I've got enough emails and found enough sites to buy practically every book I'd ever want 10 times over! Otherwise I updated most of the links. Did a few modifications to the home page. Redid all the covers so they should work now as well as the gallery. |
