Letterbox USA is a worldwide penpal organization, started by a group of dedicated pen-and-paper penpals, who have been corresponding since .... oh, "The Stone Age". The purpose of this website is to reach more parents, teachers and youth group leaders to let them know about us. (A link to our registration form is at the bottom of this page.)

We have three goals:

1)
To keep the art of old-fashioned letter-writing alive. All "Letterbox USA" penpals correspond by pen and paper only. We do NOT match email penpals. If you're looking for an email "keypal", we can't help you. Sorry.

2)
To enable children from around the world who do not have a computer at home (or kids who just like to write letters) to learn about life in another region of the USA or another country.

3)
To provide non-English speakers with a fun way to practice their English language skills.

We also have three rules:

1)
Letterbox USA is for children aged 7 to 17 only.

2)
All correspondence is in English.

3)
Penpal requests must be sent to Letterbox USA by postal mail only. We do NOT accept penpal applications by email. Please use our email address only if you have questions about the program. You will find a link at the bottom of this page that will take you to the registration page and application form.

In return, we make three promises:

1)
Every person who writes to us will be matched with a penpal. It's our guarantee. If there are ANY problems with the correspondence, please let us know immediately and we will resolve the matter to the best of our ability.

2)
No personal information will be given or sold to any other organizations or companies.

3)
No personal information or "penpal ads" will be placed on the internet or in any public media. We match pairs of children privately, two-by-two.
