Welcome to this website about scenery in Oklahoma! I moved to this state in 2004 from the east coast, and it didn't take me long to learn to love it. Some friends took me to the wonderful Wichita National Wildlife Preserve, and I was hooked. Since then, I've been amazed at how much variety there is here, and I've spent a lot of time wandering. As my wife and I are avid photographers, we've taken a lot of pictures of our travels. We decided to post them here to give people an idea of how diverse a state this truly is. These are certainly not a comprehensive guide to Oklahoma, and are biased towards what interests us. We love small towns, nature, good food, neat signage, architecture, and history; we therefore seek these things out. Another bias to look out for is that I only try to take pictures of public buildings or abandoned homes, I try not to put people's houses on the site. Thus, some towns look a bit rougher than they actually are. This is especially true of small, rural towns (for example Gotebo, Maud) that have very well maintained homes but an abandoned downtown district. Don't assume anything about a place based on these photos! Our best guides have been friends, the Oklahoma State Highway Map, and John W Morris's Ghost Towns of Oklahoma. Many of the places listed here can be found in Morris's book, as we initially made it our goal to see everything in it. Enjoy this site, and our state! |

The photos are arranged in arbitrary regions based on their general distance from Oklahoma City. Some regions don't make a lot of sense at first This is generally because an attempt was made to keep related places together (for example, US 66 west of OKC is all in the Southwestern Region, even though Geary isn't southwest.) To see photos for a particular place, click the link for the region it is listed under. The links take you to a page of thumbnail photos. Clicking each thumbnail gives you a larger size image. There will be links to let you go forward or backwards one image. The symbol "*" means that new photos were recently added for this place.
