The History of Polemite
It all started in 1996. Dave moved from Castlegar BC, to Chase BC. After that, you could find our crew in the mountains, or on the streets in either town with video cameras in hand. The two small worlds collided, and over a decade of riding and mayhem has passed since.
Our first batch of video footage came together in the year 2000 as "Polemite 2.0" With primitive cameras and editing equipment, our first step into the video producing world had been taken. In the years since then, we have each gone into the deapths of personal debt in order to purchase digital equipment, snowmobiles, and alcohol.
Small Town Hero's, our latest project, pays tribute to our roots. The name itself refers to the small towns we grew up in, and our favorite manouver, the hero point.
The Hero point is done when you have become so fucking good at what you are doing, that you can throw one arm straight up in the air, and point towards the stars with your index finger, right in the middle of whatever it is that you are performing. For example, lets say you are in mid air, doing the most difficult arial manouver you are capable of. If you really want to make it look good, throw in a Hero Point right in the middle of it. Or lets say you are taking a strong drink straight out of a whiskey bottle. Let everyone know what you're up to by pointing one out as you do it.
Small Town Heros has been a lot of blood, sweat, and beers in the making. In other words, capturing ourselves fucking around has been a lot of work. But we have signed up for another round anyways. The upcoming season is shaping up to be the most challenging yet. Producing a series of videos with minimal funds, and bills to pay makes one wonder what the fuck he is doing it all for. But we have stuck together this long, and we wouldn't miss the next adventure for nothing. So we hope you enjoy what you see. We are going to do our best to make it better, and keep it going for the years to come.
