"I've honestly thought, and I know people have probably been laughing behind my back, but I've believed all along that we could get out of this. We've got ourselves on a run and if we keep playing the way we are then, hopefully, the fans will have something to smile about come the end of the season." Paul Simpson, Brunton Park, Jan 1 2004.

Welcome to 3 Games in Hand, a completely independent web site devoted to all things Carlisle United. From the formation of the club to the present day, we think we have covered something for everyone. If we haven't, let us know and we'll do our best to put it right. We hope you continue to enjoy this site as we ensure that it continues to grow.

Choosing the title of the site was one of the easier tasks. Back in January 2001, when the decision to start up a web site was made, Carlisle United were rooted to the foot of the Third Division table. They were 6 points adrift but, crucially, had 3 games in hand over their fellow strugglers. A fine team effort over the second half of that season took United into the final game safe, something that looked impossible just a few months earlier.

**Chat Meetings in the 3 Games Chat Room** - Every Sunday morning at 11am and every Wednesday evening at 8pm. These regular chat meets have been resurrected and are already proving to be successful. Follow the Chat Room link below to join the banter.

**New to the site 9 January - Team Tracker updated after the Boston game. Managers section updated (Collins completed and Simmo added). Daily Diary will return soon (a bit of host switching required).
