~Prologue~
"Why are we here again?" asked Alexander James McLean or AJ for short, driving down an old dirt road in Romania with Denise, his mother, by his side.
"Because I heard that it was very nice and educational here, both a fun and learning experience for you and me," she answered.
"Fun AND educational?! There's no such combonation!"
"Whatever. If you didn't like the idea of coming here, why did you agree to come?"
"I like it here! It's just that of all the places we could've gone for vacation, you chose Vampire Central!"
"Oh, AJ, please. There are no such things as vampires."
"You don't know that! Just cause we haven't seen any doesn't mean they aren't there. Like aliens."
"Aliens?"
"Yeah, the friggin' universe is so big! We can't possibly be the ONLY living things in it!"
"You're a strange child."
"I'm not strange. I'm unique."
"You just keep telling yourself that, AJ."
"No, but seriously. There were a lot of unexplained deaths here lately. Like that girl yesterday. Her throat was ripped open but not drop of blood was found near her. And that dude last week. They found him in the cemetery with a stake through his heart!"
"They were just poor innocent people who were at the wrong place at the wrong time! Threre are a lot of gruesome crimes going around everywhere."
"I know, but still."
"We should be cautious, but we still could have fun. Didn't you enjoy our little trip to the Black Sea?"
"It was cool. It's no Miami Beach, but it was cool."
"I thought so."
They continued to chat, until a blood curdling scream pierced the silence of night.
"Help! Someone please help me!!!"
It was a young woman's voice. AJ abruptly stopped the car.
"Mom, did you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
"Please! Help me! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
"That!"
AJ got out of the car. "Here," he handed his mom the car phone. "Stay here and call the police. I'm gonna go check it out."
"AJ, no, you don't know what's out there!" Denise begged.
"I can't just sit around and wait until the police get here! It may be too late! That girl needs help now! Don't worry, I'll be careful."
"AJ!" Before she could say anything else, AJ ran off in the direction of the scream.
