Chapter 11: The Blackout

Over the next few weeks the tour progressed and Reanna’s addiction grew. She never went anywhere with the guys and always insisted that she had terrible headaches in the morning, so the guys wouldn’t think anything more of it. She started her tutoring with Nick’s old tutor, Lacy. Lacy started to notice that when Reanna had morning classes, she could never remember anything that they had studied the day before and she could never finish what she was saying. Lacy became concerned and decided to tell Kevin.
“Kevin, I need to talk to you about Reanna.”
Kevin sat down on the couch and replied “ What’s on your mind?”
“Well, I’ve noticed how Reanna has not been able to concentrate on her work and she kind of stumbles around, she can’t finish anything she says, I’m really worried about her.” Kevin felt concerned about this matter but was stumped on what to do about it.
“What do you think I should do about her?” He asked worriedly. Lacy shrugged her shoulders, and replied, “I would suggest watching her and see what she does, take her to rehearsal and your shows.”
Kevin nodded and said, “Okay, I’ll try that.”
Meanwhile in the living room Reanna was sitting anxiously on the couch watching Nick and Brian try to teach Dana the tactics of Mario Kart, which they were not succeeding at. A.J. and Howie were laughing at the sight of Nick trying so hard to be patient with Dana. This all made Reanna more anxious than she already was.
‘Why the hell are they still here? They should be gone by now.’ Reanna could feel her hands start to shake, she needed a drink desperately. ‘Just a few more minutes and then they’re gone.’ She wiped the hair out of her eyes and watched quietly.
Kevin watched from the doorway, his stomach was doing flip flops, this is the first time he would have to enforce rules on Reanna, and he didn’t know how it would go. He walked in and sat down by Reanna. He looked over and smiled at her and then said casually, “Reanna I want you to come to to rehearsal, and then I want you to come to the concert tonight with us.”
Reanna thought to herself , ‘He must be joking, I don’t want to go with him, I’m content just staying here.’ She answered Kevin’s request by simply saying, “No thanks I’ll just stay here.” Kevin inwardly sighed, Reanna’s response wasn’t exactly what he wanted to hear.
“Well I think you should come.”
Reanna shot back, “Well I think I should not come.”
Kevin grew annoyed at Reanna’s sassy tone of voice. He planly said, “Your coming.”
Reanna defiantly said, “ No I’m not, and you can’t make me.”
This pissed Kevin off, he had just asked Reanna to do a simple task, which was one of the first things he had ever asked her to do, and she totally blew him off and was rude to him. That was one of Kevin’s pet peeves, he hated it when people were rude and cocky around him. Kevin looked at Reanna and smiled as he said quite harshly, “You’ll come even if I have to carry you, I know you don’t like the idea of me being in charge, but guess what? I am, get used to it.” Reanna glared at Kevin and stormed out of the room. A.J. muttered to himself, “If looks could kill....” Kevin looked over at A.J, and said, “Oh, she’ll get over it, I’m just trying to get her out of the bus, besides it’s not good for her to stay in here all by herself all day long. It’s not healthy.”
Meanwhile Reanna was in the kitchen, her eyes blurred with angry tears. ‘Who does Kevin think he is? Fine if I can’t have my drink later, I’ll have it now.’ Reanna pulled out a large cup and filled it to the brim with Jack Daniels. She downed the entire glass, and then filled another, and did the same. She put the cup down and felt like her insides were on fire. Her breath became short and her head was spinning, she had never drank that much so quickly. She became scared, she ran back into the living area. She tried to call out Kevin’s name but nothing would come out of her mouth. Everything in the room was spinning, all the voices were meshed into one. Reanna was falling into a pit of darkness, the voices were fading away until she heard nothing.
