Chapter 6: The Rain
Kevin looked out the window to see it start raining. ‘What a perfect
way to end a
perfect day.’ He thought bitterly. He shook his head and remebered that
in 12 days he had
to go back on tour. He would have to get a tutor for Reanna. He just
wanted to hug her
and tell her he was there when she needed him, but he didn’t. He didn’t
know how to tell
her. He knew Dana would be fine, but he didn’t know about Reanna. Oh how
he wished
he did.
Reanna woke up when Dana got up and went into the kitchen. She heard
A.J. say
“Why hello princess, are you hungry?” Dana responded yes. Reanna had
almost forgotten
the days before, but almost doesn’t count. A flood of tears poured from
her eyes. She had
cried for two days straight. In these two days she had begun to think.
She thought that she
wouldn’t let anyone love her, so she couldn’t love them, this way they
would never get a
chance to leave her. She cried until she got a migrane. She got out of
bed and stumbled to
the door. She could barely see straight. Her head throbbed with pain and
tears streamed
form her eyes. She opened the door and looked at the people who were
staring silently at
her. She just tried to walk.
Kevin looked at Reanna and felt tears well up in his eyes. She looked
terrible, her
face was pale and tear streaked. Her eyes were blood shot, she looked
horrible. A.J. tried
to hug her, but she held up a shaky hand and said “Please don’t.” A.J.
backed up and sat
down.
Reanna knew she shouldn’t have done that, because she felt like she
going to
throw up. When she spoke, she became even more nautious. She couldn’t
hold it in
anymore, she stumbled to the trash can and threw up. Tears still
streamed from her eyes
when she rose to her feet. She wiped her mouth off and blankly stared at
Brian and Nick
as she walked into the kitchen. She looked at Ann and her voice wavered
as she said “Do
you have any tylenol?” She held onto the counter for support. “Yes
sweetie, let me get
you some.” Ann got into the cabinet and pulled out a small pill bottle.
She handed it to
Reanna. Reanna unscrewed her cap and shakily poured out 4 pills. She
carefully placed
them in her mouth and swallowed them. She walked over to the table and
placed her cup
down. She looked out the window and saw that it was raining. She
remembered what her
mom had told her about the rain after her grandma died; “ If it rains
after someone dies,
it means that person is there with you and is crying because they miss
you.” Reanna
walked over to the back door and opened it.
Kevin rose to his feet and said “Reanna where are you going?” Reanna
didn’t
even look back as she said “To be with my mom.” She walked outside into
the rain. She
crawled up onto the tramploine that Kevin had bought his Goddaughter,
Madison. By this
time, everyone was staring outside at Reanna.
“What’s she doing?” Brian
asked.
“I don’t
know, but she’s going to get sick.” Kevin was opening the door to go get
Reanna, but
Dana tugged on his pant leg. Kevin looked down and said “What is it ?”
Dana was quite
articulate for two, so she told Kevin about the rain. Kevin hesitated,
but decided not to
go get her. “I’ll let her be with her mom one more time.”
