***Paige***
“Hey Travis, get over here” I screamed. Travis moaned and slowly made his way towards me. “What”? he whined. “You’re coming tonight right”? I asked. “Of course, I’m your boyfriend and I’ll do anything for you” He said and bowed to me. I started laughing. This town was so boring, nothing ever happened around here, except on September 29. That’s when the fun begins. And tonight just happened to be September 29, but tonight was going to be different, Abs was going to be there. I sat in the park like every Saturday watching Fred, Travis, Lance, and Justin play football. Abs had just moved here from Florida. He was so fine! Even though I went out with Travis I like Abs more, he was so sweet. “Boo”! someone called from behind me. I turned around to find Abs standing there. “Abs! You scared me” I said and smiled. “What’s up” he said. “Oh nothing, just watching the kids”! I yelled over to Travis. “Hey we’re not kids”! Travis yelled as Fred tackled him to the ground. Abs and I laughed. “So you are coming tonight right”? I asked. “Well how are we suppose to get in”? He asked. “Matt’s got the key” I replied. “I might go” he said. Then I noticed some girl that looked lost wonder over to us. “Um, excuse me but how do you get back to Hil… ABS”! She screamed. Abs turned and looked at her. His mouth dropped.
***Abs***
“JULIE”!? I screamed and hugged her. “Oh Abs” she said joyfully. I hugged her tight, and for that moment the world seemed to stop. “Visiting my aunt” she replied and smiled. “But I’m only in town for a few days” she sighed. “Well we’ll have to spend every day together” I said. Then I remembered Paige sitting there. “Oh gosh sorry Paige, Julie this is Paige, Paige this is Julie my ex” I said. “Nice to meet you” Julie said. Paige just looked at her and faintly smiled. “Don’t forget the party tonight” Paige hissed. “Oh yeah that’s right” I said and smacked my forehead. Julie looked disappointed. “Hey…cam Julie come too”? I asked. “Oh no that’s ok” she said trying to back out of it. “Oh no, please do come we could use another victim” Paige smiled evilly. Julie looked shocked but I pulled her off to catch up on things.
***Julie***
“Hey Abs, I don’t think I want to go to that party, she said ‘she could use another victim’ what does that mea? And the way she smiled looked really evil to me” I whined. “Oh Julie, hush, it’s gonna be cool, you have to come” Abs begged. I looked him in the eyes. His eyes were so innocent, and so playful, how could I say no to them?! “Oh alright fine” I gave in. “Yay”! He shouted and pulled me out the door with him. We arrived a little late because we stopped to eat. Everyone was getting ready to leave when we walked in. We were at some guy named Justin’s house. “Dude Abs, I didn’t think you were coming…and you brought a lady friend” Some guy with curly blonde hair stated. “Yeah, well you still never told me exactly what we are doing over there” Abs said. “Come on I’ll explain in the car” The same guy said. I had to get introduced to everyone there were 11 of us in all, 2 guys named Carson and Matt were already at the house we were going to, and Blaire, Tracy, Justin, Abs and me were in Justin’s car, while Paige, Lance, Fred and Travis were in Paige’s car. “Ok so where are we going”? I asked. “The old Johnson house” Justin replied and peeled out of the driveway.
***Justin***
“Ok I’ll tell you what were doing, since Abs and Julie are new to it” I stated. “The old Johnson house is this huge house on a hill a little ways out of town, the perfect place for a horror scene to take place right”? I said. “Right” Abs replied. “Well that’s were we are going, and we do this every 29th of September, we play a little game called ‘Murder in the Dark” I said. I noticed Julie’s eyes get really big. “Well how do you play”? She asked. “Ok, one person is picked to be a detective, and the go into a bathroom and turn the lights on, only in that bathroom. The rest of the lights in the house are off. Then while the detective is in the bathroom everyone else picks a killer. So they all hide except the killer, then he goes out to try to find someone, got it so far” I said. They nodded. “Ok when the killer finds someone he like taps them, then he runs off and they count to 10, then they scream. So everyone even the killer come out and the detective asks questions to try to figure out who the killer is, once he thinks he knows he’ll guess who he thinks it is, if he’s right the person who was the killer has to be the detective and they pick a new killer. But if he’s wrong the person that is pretending to be dead goes with the detective back into the bathroom, and you keep playing until they guess the killer, got it”? I said. They just looked at me. “Well how are we getting in”? Julie asked. “Paige’s brother Matt house sits the house when the people are away so he’s got a key” I replied. “Oh” she said. “Well here we are” I said pulling up to the huge house. “Holy shit, it’s big” Julie said in awe looking up at the huge house. We walked in. “Hey man” Matt called. We turned around. “Oh my god”! Julie screamed. “It’s Scott”!
***Julie***
“Scott, It’s Scott” I screamed and started freaking out. “Huh”? the dude that looked remarkably like Scott said. “Julie, chill” Abs hissed. “Chill? Chill, that’s Scott, look at him Abs” I cried. “Julie calm down, I know he looks like him, but he’s not, he’s Paige’s brother, look no British accent like me, no brown hair, it’s blonde, look not even blue eyes” he said and pushed me into the guy. It was true his eyes were brown. “Oh…sorry” I replied and stepped away. “It’s ok Abs did the same thing the first time he met me, I’m Matt” he said. “Oh” I said. But he did look so much like Scott. He had blonde hair to his eyes, his brown eyes I should say. “Ok well let’s get playing” Matt said. “Where’s Carson”? Tracy asked. “Oh he already hid” Matt replied. “Ok I want to be the detective first, everyone pick a killer” Lance said and shut the door to the bathroom.
***Tracy***
We picked Fred as the killer, and went to hide. I always had the best places to hide. I ran up the huge grand staircase and hid in the closet by the bathroom upstairs. I peered out the door and saw Justin approaching me. “Psst, Justin” I whispered. He smiled and lightly kissed me, then we heard a scream that sounded like Blaire. “Let’s go” I said and pulled him along with me to the master bedroom where she was. Everyone came to the room along with Lance. “Ok let’s see…who is the killer” Lance said rubbing his hands together. “I think the killer is…” Lance began. “Wait aren’t you going to ask questions” Julie piped in. “You don’t have to” Lance said. “Ok then, the killer is…FRED”! Lance cried. “Man Lance, that’s not fair you’re to good” Fred whined. “Ok pick another killer I’m going downstairs” Fred huffed and ran down the stairs. “Ok I want to be the killer” Carson stated. Everyone agreed. He closed his eyes. “Go hide” he said.
***Abs***
“See Julie, this game is kinda fun” I said. “I guess” she replied looking around the room. “God this house freaks me out, it reminds me of that house from the movie ‘The Haunting’, except all those little kids faces aren’t carved all over the place” She said. I laughed. Then we heard a scream and we went to the room it came from. I looked around Carson wasn’t there. “Hey where’s Carson”? I whispered to Paige. She looked around too. “I thought he was the killer” she whispered back. “He was” I said. “Well where is he” she asked in confusion. “I don’t know that’s why I asked you”! I cried. “Hey where’s Carson” Paige asked. Everyone looked around. “God he does this every time” Matt sighed. “He always runs off and hides, just pick another killer” He stated. Fred sighed and went back down stairs. “I want to be the killer” Julie piped in. “Julie”? I said. “What, I want to be the killer” she snapped. “Go hide” she said and shut her eyes.
***Lance***
I ran to one of the bed rooms and hid behind a table. I heard a scream that sounded like Tracy’s and I stood up to go when a shadowy figure appeared at the door. “That you Julie”? I asked. The person didn’t move. “You’re only suppose to kill one person” I stated and laughed. I started to walk out when it’s hand blocked me. That’s when I realized it wasn’t her. Whoever it was, was wearing all black and I couldn’t see there face. I felt something sharp come to my throat. “HELP”! I screamed.
***Julie***
“AAAAAHHHHHHH”! I screamed. Abs and Justin came flying around the corner. “Holy Shit”! Justin cried looking at Carson’s lifeless body at my feet with a rope tied (obviously pretty tight) around his neck. Everyone else came over to us too. “OH MY GOD”! Tracy shrieked. “You guys, Lance is dead”! Paige screamed running over to us and finding Carson also dead. “AAHHH”! She screamed. “Abs…he’s here”! I cried. “Who? Who’s here” Justin asked looking worried. I looked at Abs. “Ok…Two years ago, our friend Scott went psycho and killed almost everyone, luckily we got away, but they never found Scott, and that’s why when I saw Matt I flipped out because he looked so much like him” I explained. “And now you think he’s here”? Travis asked. I nodded. “Well let’s get the hell out of here” Blaire screamed and we ran down the stairs. Blaire reached the door first. “It’s locked” she cried. “Locked”? Travis said. “It can only lock from the inside” he said. “You try then” she snapped. He went over to the door. “Someone turn the lights on it’s creepy in here” I stated. Matt flipped them on. “She’s right, it won’t open” Travis sighed. “Well what the hell is keeping us from getting out, it can’t lock from the outside”! Tracy screamed. “I’m going to try the back door” Paige stated. “I’ll go too” Matt said and they ran to the back. “Ok on 3 pull” Justin said. “1…2…3, pull” Justin screamed. They all pulled and the lights flickered and went out. We heard a gun shot “Help”! someone screamed. “It got Matt, something got him” Paige screamed from the other room “RUN” Tracy screamed and took off running up the stairs. Everyone else followed her except me. I stood there looking into the darkness. I saw someone emerge. “Julie come on” Abs cried. I stood there still. “Julie” he screamed. The figure pointed at me. But I still stood there. “Come on” I said softly. “Come get me”. The figure was about 15 feet away. It clutched in it’s hand a shiny butcher knife. “JULIE”! Abs screamed and started descending the stairs. The figure started moving closer. “Julie” Abs cried and jerked me to the side as I saw a flash of shiny metal fly past me. “Julie, Abs run” Paige cried holding a gun and pointing it at the figure. “Go” she cried. We started running up the stairs as I turned the corner I head a gunshot.
***Travis***
“Go, go” I screamed. I was behind everyone shutting doors and stuff like that. “Wait” I heard Abs scream. I swung the door back open. Abs and Julie flew in. “We can’t leave Paige she’s back there” Julie said pointing behind us. “You all go, I’ll wait here” I said and pushed them up the stairs to the attic. Julie turned to me. “Travis” she said. “Go” I said softly. She smiled. “Be careful”.
***Abs***
We came to the attic where everyone else was. “What do we do now”? Blaire said crying. I looked at the window. “Are you crazy”!? she screamed. “Well I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to die tonight” I screamed. I opened the window and looked out. It wasn’t that far down. There was a patch of bushes below. “Look just jump into the bushes” I said. “Anyone who doesn’t want to do this…go back and take your chances” I stated and leaned out the window and jumped. It wasn’t too bad, I hurt my foot when I landed though. “Come on” I called. Julie’s head popped out. “Abs look out” she called. I moved out of the way as she came flying out the window. “You ok”? I asked. “Yeah, I think so” she said slowly getting up. “Look out” Justin screamed and also leaped out. “Anyone else coming”? I asked. “No…they all went back” Justin said looking up at the window. “Well I’m getting out of here” Julie said and we ran to Justin’s car. “The tire’s flat” I said. “Quick Paige’s car” Justin said and we all got in her car. Julie turned around and looked at the house. We heard 3 gunshots and 2 screams. “Let’s go” Justin screamed and I stepped on the gas and pealed out.
***Travis***
I stood at the door waiting for Paige, but she never came. I un-locked the door just in case if she was on her way. I started going up the stairs. Blaire came running up to me. “Blaire don’t go that way” I said. “No, I have to get out” she screamed and went running down the stairs. “Blaire the killer is back there” I cried. She didn’t say anything and soon I lost sight of her. I ran up the stairs and spotted a small door, and opened it and hid in there. Then I heard 3 gunshots and 2 screams. I popped my head out of the door. “Paige”? I called. There was no answer. “Tracey”? I called. Still no answer. “Fred”? I said my voice getting shaky. “Travis”? came a raspy voice. I looked around in the darkness. “Hello” I said in a whisper. “Travis” the voice said again. “Who is that”? I asked with my voice cracking. I gripped the door handle tightly and opened it a little more. “Who is it”? I asked again a little louder. “Travis”! someone screamed. “Blaire”?! I called. “Where are you”? I asked. “Travis”! she screamed again. “Blaire”?! I cried. Then I heard another gunshot. “Shit I’m out of here”! I screamed and started running to the window. I saw Paige’s car pulling out of the drive way. “Paige wait”! I screamed and started to climb out the window. “WAIT”! I screamed as loud as I could. Then something grabbed my shirt. I turned around. “Paige”! I screamed. The figure shook it’s head and pushed me out the window. “HELP”! I screamed before I hit the ground.
***Justin***
“Fuck, who was that”?! I asked looking behind me at the house. I looked at Julie who was sitting in the back breathing heavily. “It was Travis” Abs said . “Should we go back”? Julie asked. “No” I said plainly. “Justin, man I think we should, he might need help” Abs said. “No” I replied. “Well I’m going” Julie said and started to get out of the car. “NO”! I cried and turned around and tried to stop her. “Justin look out”! she screamed. I spun around just as we drove into a tree.
***Abs***
“Justin! Justin are you ok”!? I asked shaking him. Julie looked at me then at him. He didn’t move. “Holy shit1 Abs what’s that”!? Julie screamed in a whisper and frantically pointed to a figure near the tree. I looked up. “Julie when I saw go, run, ok”? I whispered. She nodded. “GO”! I cried. She jumped out the door followed by me. "ABS RUN”! she screamed. We started running back to the house. I looked behind my shoulder and saw the figure following us. “Julie go”! I screamed from behind her. We ran up the stairs and into the house. She stopped. “Keep going”! I cried and pushed her up the staircase. “Oh my god”! she cried and came to a complete stop. “What”? I asked stopping too. She pointed to Fred and Tracy on the floor. I shook my head and pulled her with me. “TRAVIS”?! we screamed as we entered the attic again. There was no answer. “Travis”? I asked again. Julie walked to the window. I followed her but tripped on something. I fell to the ground hard and got the breath knocked out of me. “Abs”!? Julie cried and spun around. “Ju…” I started but nothing came out.
***Julie***
“Abs, where are you”?! I screamed looking around the black room. I turned back to the window. “Abs”? I asked. “Julie” came a familiar British accent behind me. “Abs”? I said in a weak voice and slowly turned around. There stood a man. “Abs”? I said squinting, to see better. It looked like Matt. “MATT”! I cried and ran to hug him. “But I thought… in the kitchen”? I said confused. “Are you ok”? he asked hugging me. I pulled back and gasped. He smiled. “Well Julie”? he asked. His voice ringing with a British tone. He ran his hand through his hair and pulled it off! Revealing brown spiky hair. My mouth dropped. “How could you be so stupid!? How could you not know it was me”! he said stepping closer. “Scott” I said quietly. “Gosh I could’ve sworn you knew it was me”! he cried. I backed up even more from him as he still stepped foreword. “Leave me alone”! I cried. “ABS”! I screamed. Scott laughed. “This time he can’t save you Julie”. He stated. I backed up a step farther and felt the cold wall press against my back. I winced. Scott smiled a crooked smile. “You are evil”! I screamed. He laughed. “I know”! he cried happily. “ABS”! I screamed again. He grabbed my shoulders and pinned me to the wall and covered my mouth with his hand. “No, no, no shut up”! he said softly and smacked me. “Owe…god” I said and started crying. He smiled. “Baby” he said. I looked around. I saw Abs stand up. I looked at him he started coming towards us. Scott quickly turned around and backslapped Abs square on the face. Abs stumbled back and fell. “You’re going to get caught”! I screamed. Scott turned sharply around and glared at me. He was about an inch away from my face. “No Julie…I never get caught” he sneered. “Until now” came a girl’s voice from behind us. I looked over Scott’s shoulder and saw someone standing in the doorway dressed in black. Scott turned around as well. “What”? he hissed. “I said until now” the same girl said. It sounded like Paige. She pulled off the mask. It was Paige! “Paige we had a deal” Scott screamed. Paige stepped closer to Scott. “You said we’d have a deal if you didn’t kill any of my family”. She said calmly. “And I didn’t” he snapped. “Heidi was my sister” she stated. Scott’s face went pale. Paige raised the gun up to his face. “I’m sorry Paige I didn’t know”! he said in a shaky voice. Paige shook her head. “Well you know now” she said and pulled the trigger. Scott closed his eyes. Then he slowly opened them. The gun was empty! He started laughing. “Stupid Bitch”! he cried. “Hey! Know one calls my girlfriend a bitch, even if she did try to kill me” Travis said from the doorway. We all turned and saw him. “You’ve got to be kidding me”! Scott screamed. “Travis”! Paige said happily. “Shut up” he hissed. “Get them boys” Travis stated as the police poured into the room and grabbed Scott and Paige. “No! I didn’t do anything”! Paige screamed and kicked. Scott glared at me, “I’ll get you Julie I’m not through yet”! he cried and started laughing as they pulled him out the door. I ran over to Abs. “Abs! Are you ok”?! I asked kneeling down beside him. “What happened”? he asked. “They got him” I said and smiled. “Damn! I missed all the action again”! he said and stood up. Travis walked over to us. I hugged him. “Thank you” I said and kissed him on the cheek. He smiled and we all walked out.
***Julie***
The vacuum roared as I vacuumed the floor. I barley heard the phone ring. I ran over and picked it up. “Hello”? I said. “Julie? It’s Abs” Abs said. “Hey sweetie” I said. “I’ll be over there in 15 minutes ok”? he asked. “Yeah, I love you, bye” I said and hung up and went back to vacuuming. Then the phone rang again. I sighed and picked it up. “Hello”? I said. “Julie”? the voice on the other line asked. “Yeah” I said. “Who is this”? I asked. “Are you alone”? the voice asked. I looked around the house as my face grew pale. “Um… yes” I said in a shaky voice. “Think again”! the voice cried. I ran to the front door and locked it just as I heard a knock on it. I screamed. “Who is it”? I asked. “It’s me Abs…Julie what’s going on let me in” he cried. I looked at the phone and then at the door. I turned the phone off. “Abs is it really you”? I asked. “Yes, who else would it be”? he replied. I walked to the door and slowly unlocked it and opened the door. “Hello Julie” Scott said standing at the door. “AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH”! I screamed. “I told you I never get caught” he said and smiled.
