Adora Dolls has added a new face to their African American doll line. He is Jamar, a 22-inch vinyl baby in a limited edition of 1500 dolls. Jamar has "cut" his first teeth!
Madame Alexander includes only one African-American Cissy, Life in the Limelight, in the 2004 line. There are three new Paris Williams dolls from Madame Alexander: Mod, Amethyst and Sunset. As of this writing it is known that Mod maintains the 18-points of articulation. Which one is your favorite?
Glissando and Blues in the Night Violet Waters are both stunning! There is also a Cat Woman outfit made for the Gene doll line, which makes Violet Waters look as cunning as a cat! From CED Dolls is the stunning, 19.5-in. Colin Dehan - Klub African
Some of the preorders of the Bob Mackie Diana Ross doll have been received. The doll looks slightly different from the prototype and look who graces the back of the box.
Actual Diana Ross doll photos - Courtesy of Manya Elliott Lounge Kitties - Black Panther Doll is also from Mattel and is sure to be at the top of several collectors' wish lists. Treasures of Africa #4 by Byron Lars for Mattel is scheduled to be released in May 2004 (no photo available). From Robert Tonner, collectors will be delighted to know that Tiny Dru (8 inches tall with jointed knees!) has been added to the Betsy McCall line up. There are two versions: Basic Dru and Party Pink Dru (or Drusilla), pictured above from L-R. Also from the Betsy McCall line is a new 14-inch Basic Dru (not) pictured. From Tonner's Tyler Wentworth Collection are three new Esme dolls: Ready to Wear Runway, Amber Glow, and Sumptuous Esme, pictured above from L-R. There is also a new, and still cute Basic Georgia added to the Tonner Mary Engelbreit line (not pictured). Thank you Mr. Tonner for remembering us!
Recently viewed on the Home Shopping Network is the stunning, 23-inch Alexia by Jean Bernard. For a fraction of the cost of the original, this dark-skinned beauty, an HSN exclusive wears a contrasting-to-her-skin-color, white outfit; is made of resin with a cloth body, and is sure to enhance any collection. To keep abreast of the new HSN doll offerings, frequent visits to their website, HSN.com, and searches for "African American" will disclose all African American doll offerings. When looking for offerings from a particular HSN artist, search for the artist's name at the HSN website. At Masterpiecedolls.com, click the "sneak preview" link to view the new MasterPiece dolls that will be sold via HSN. From Lee Middleton, in medium skin tone for 2004 are: For Love of Country (pictured above); Sweet and Innocent, Family Treasure (limited to a one-day production), and All American Boy (pictured below).
The Zodiac Girlz - Leo From KB toys These are just a few of the new 2004 dolls (pictured and camera shy). After IDEX and Toy Fair in January and February, respectively, more new faces will be unveiled and can be found by performing frequent Internet searches. Google.com is a widely used and favorite search engine of many. OTHER NEWS In other news, the My Twinn Company has ceased its operations and is currently looking for a buyer. Perhaps someone will salvage the company that once produced high-quality, highly poseable, 24-inch custom dolls in the likeness of your submitted photo or according to the specifications outlined by the collector. ~~~~~~~ Speaking of ceasing operations, there will be one additional issue of Black Doll-E-Zine published toward the end of 2004. Yes, BDE will be closing its future publication doors as our "free" web space has been exhausted. Unless otherwise notified, please look online for the final issue of BDE toward the end of 2004. ~~~~~~~ UPCOMING DOLL SHOWS AND EVENTS
