About Cori

Born in Seaford, Delaware, and raised in Orlando, Florida, Cori Yarckin began taking dance lessons at the age of three, and by five was appearing in shows around the Central Florida area. At age seven she landed a role in a local production of Oliver!, playing one of the street thieves, and then appeared as Princess Yingyowlak in The King and I. She made her first television appearance the next year, dancing in the Disney Channel special, Sebastian’s Caribbean Jamboree, and from there moved on to spend two years with the Orlando Opera Company, performing in productions such as The Queen of Spades and Othello as both a singer and dancer. In 1998, she appeared as a dancer on the Univision variety show Sabado Gigante. Cori is especially proud of the two summer programs she participated in with the Broadway Theater Project, where she was able to study with such legendary performers as Gwen Verdon, Gregory Hines, and Anne Reinking. Currently, Cori is starring as Camille in the new Nickelodeon series, Noah Knows Best. In the show, Cori plays the self-absorbed best friend of Noah’s sister, Megan. Always the instigator, Camille goes through life believing everyone’s business is her business. "I really enjoy playing Camille," Cori says, "because she is a funny character who is a lot like me – not in the self-absorbed way, but happy and fun!" The show premieres in October with a 13-episode run, and hopefully will continue for many more seasons. While appearing in Noah Knows Best, Cori is also pursuing her love of music. She is currently recording a demo and, because of her dance talent, is doing the demo in video form instead of just audio. "I would love to be a recording artist, just for the simple fact that I’ll have so many opportunities to perform live, which is my first love," Cori states. "It’s amazing to be able to connect with people in a more personal way, by sharing feelings and emotions through the music." Her immediate goal is to finish the video, and then to pursue a record label that will help her develop her talent, and her own individual style. During her hiatus from Noah Knows Best, Cori plans to audition for film and television roles to help further her education for an acting career. "Acting is really new to me," Cori says. "I’ve always acted but never really studied it before. I think acting experience will make me more well-rounded as a performer." In addition to her career, Cori, 18, is just beginning her freshman year as an undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida. She has recently pledged to a sorority, and looks forward to campus life. She and three girlfriends are sharing an apartment near the school. Besides acting, singing, and dancing, Cori enjoys gymnastics, wakeboarding, bicycling, rollerblading, horseback-riding, swimming, and shopping! She is also very proud that last year she learned to drive a stick shift! The advice Cori would like to give the world, she says, is, "No matter what, always be nice to everybody. In the end, you will come out the bigger person."
