Warning; spoilers for the first story, Unexpected Ally. Also, some of this might not make sense if you’re not familiar with Power Rangers: Wild Force.

Tara was born an unknown amount of time ago. She’s an Elf and was raised in a royal court; the only family we know of for sure is a brother, who she was very close with. Her name then was Thariin.

When she was something short of six hundred…and so only a child by Elven standards…there was a great war. Thariin fought in this war against everyone’s wishes. During a battle she was separated from her companions; by the time she was found she was injured and close to death. One of those who found her was a wizard, and he kept her alive by drawing strength from the earth itself for her.

It backfired.

Thariin discovered she was tied to the Earth; she could sense through it and control it. Gradually that control extended to most of the natural elements as well, allowing her to sense through wood, earth, water, and rock, and summon heat and cold. These new powers also meant that she would effectively live as long as the Earth did.

Something over three thousand years ago, Thariin sent away her brother, who had spent all the intervening years with her. She knew the world was changing, however, and that he wouldn’t fit in in the new world that was coming. So she sent him to live with the rest of the Elves in the magically protected haven they had withdrawn to.

Three thousand years ago Thariin came upon Animaria. Here was a place that worked with nature, not destroyed it, where animals and humans lived in peace with the land. Thariin stayed there for some months, and during that time she met Merrick, the Princess’ protector. When the Orgs attacked, however, Thariin was forced to retreat, since she couldn’t have successfully stopped them.

Her wandering continued until the Orgs resurfaced in 2002. On sensing their emergence, she went to Turtle Cove. There she met the current generation of Power Rangers…and that’s where her story really began…
