~*~Aryna~*~
Created - June 21, 2005
Updated - July 16, 2005

Character Name: Aryna

Birthdate (age): 05.24.3311 (34)

Gender: Female

Birthplace: Sirus Hold
Current Location: Last Hope Weyr

Family: Parents – herders Berma and Hylan
Six older brothers – (unnamed as of now)
Twin – rider T'lin of brown Marth (34)
Weyrmate – rider V'krim of bronze Vytelth (30)

Physical Description: Her skin is brozen and tanned all year long, her
oval face framed by dark brown hair that is always cropped short above
her neck and is often flared stylishly back. Her eyes, blue-green in
color, are calm and level, though sometimes mocking. Creases line her
face from the depression and hardships she suffered throughout her
teen years and before. She stands at 5'12", her slim body hardly
curved beneath the black clothing that she always wears, a fact that
has never bothered her. Seeking out the attention of men or catching
the envy of other women has never been a hobby of hers.

Abilities, Strengths, Weaknesses: Though left-handed, Aryna is quite
an able worker. Having worked as a drudge throughout her childhood,
she is used to being busy and is quite good at multitasking, being
hard to distract. Despite being Weyrwoman, she fiercely believes that
everyone should continue to pull their weight in work, herself
included. She has no particular hobbies that she could easily point
out, but the most delightful pastime, she will always admit, is
spending time with her dear Crissith. Unfortunately she is rather
quick to anger and tends to hold grudges for a long time.

Personality: Though still somewhat sarcastic and moody at seemingly
random times, Aryna tends to be an understanding and patient person.
Possessing a sharp tongue and harboring a quick mind, she finds
herself sometimes saying things she wished she hadn't, and though she
tries, Aryna often feels that in continuing to talk, she only worsens
the situation. Having served some of the worst filth, Aryna finds it
not at all difficult to smile and go along with another even if
retching inside; however, this she tends to do only every once in
awhile, still adjusting to her new station. Only her eyes give her
away. At times, she finds herself acting as if she cares nothing for
anything, but that too is almost always an act.

History: Aryna was born the twin of Talin. However, with an already
large family that was supported on a meager income and because her
parents figured that a girl-child wouldn't be much help to their
runner production, they sent her off to Terraslee Hold where she lived
with other keep girls who thought themselves better than everyone
else. Living with girls who were infamous for their thievery skills
and having no family to depend on, Aryna ended up making her own way
in life with a headstrong personality that is hard to defeat despite
the fact that she made her living by being a drudge. At the age of
fifteen, her twin brother was sent to Last Hope, and her family
requested her presence. Having been sent away before she could
remember them, it took her a full year to begin to forgive them
dumping her before she returned to them and got to know them a bit.
Hardly two turns later, she herself was searched by greenrider Suna of
Phoebeth to go to Last Hope herself and finally meet her twin, T'lin.

Heavily confused with the different and positive personalities
abounding within the Weyr, and depressed about the fact that she knew
she could never be a worthy match to any dragon, the new candidate was
a complete wreck. Desperate, she sought aide in her brother as well as
random strangers, many of whom became her first ever friends. During
this difficult period, her brother gave her his mutant flit to take
care of, and in fact to watch her. Finding the furry green firelizard
a complete annoyance, Aryna nevertheless began adjusting to the life
better as Kaiji often forced her to meet new people that Aryna
otherwise would have ignored.

Not too long after her arrival, the two clutches upon the sands
hatched. Passed over by all twenty-seven, Aryna fled to her rooms just
as her nightmares had always suggested and brought out a knife that
she had previously hidden. But before she could commit suicide, her
brother arrived and convinced her that there was still a chance to
Impress, an opportunity to become a dragonrider rather than suffer out
the remainder of her existence as a drudge. Yet even afterwards, Aryna
was as fragile as a flowerpetal, clinging desperately to Kaiji who had
become her only comfort. Two more hatchings came and went, and Aryna
resigned herself to the fate of a drudge.

At last, on her twenty-first birthinday ironically, Crissith hatched
and it was as if all the negativity that had ever plagued her had
simply washed away into oblivion. Aryna did not even notice when Kaiji
returned to her former 'master', T'lin. Filled with a sudden and
inexplicable love, Aryna lavished every good thing at her disposal
upon her new lifemate. Crissith grew grandly, and with the gold's
influence, Aryna also grew, losing the desperation and harshness that
had so absolutely marked her previously. As a goldrider of Last Hope,
Aryna found herself unable to possibly be happier. Crissith gave her
every joy she sought and did not force strings to be attached. In
fact, she acted much like a green when it came to mating flights,
never settling down but always choosing a different mate.
Nevertheless, Aryna couldn't have been happier.

However, to her intense surprise, she was recently proclaimed
Weyrwoman. With this new station, Aryna couldn't help but wonder
whether or not Crissith would settle down to keep an official
Weyrleader rather than flitter about with any male she chose like a
common green. In fact, Aryna almost hoped that Crissith would; it
would definitely take out a bit of the stress of having to train her
new partner for the station and then the next after that. But, par for
the course, Crissith chose a new suitor in her new flight, a bronze by
the name of Vytelth. For once, she seemed to be genuinely comfortable
with her new mate.

With somewhat of a mental shrug, Aryna got to know her new weyrmate,
V'krim, unable to help but wonder if he'd even be Weyrleader by the
end of the next turn. She quickly learned that his people skills made
him a great leader, but Aryna deemed him far too friendly; he forgave
people without much trouble and that would allow others to simply walk
over him all the time. So it is that Aryna has made it her duty to
'keep him in line' as she sees it by making sure he keeps his head
above water and that no one else puts him down. They've become
somewhat of a couple and like most, they have their problems to make
the road bumpy, but they've begun to understand each other in such a
way that most of the time they can be worked out. Now, Aryna's present
problem is simply to actually take charge as Weyrwoman, for at this
point in time she feels that her own skills are sadly inadequate for
the job and that she is not doing as best as she could be.

DRAGONRIDER INFORMATION

Dragonrider Rank: Weyrwoman

Dragon Name: Crissith

Hatch Location: Last Hope Weyr

Age: 12 turns

Color: Gold

Physical Description: With a hide always well oiled, Crissith is a
deep burnished gold streaked with soft highlights of a brighter shade
of yellow. Her leathery wings are as delicate as any, and yet they
seem to shimmer as if made of gossamer. Due to a perhaps excessive
amount of adoration bestowed upon her, Crissith grew quickly as a
weyrling, arriving at a rather large size that only emphasizes her
splendor.

Personality: Majestic and elegant as any queen, Crissith exhibits a
sense of superiority and when younger, flaunted her rank whenever it
suited her. She tends to be quite stubborn in her opinions, believing
herself always correct and often bickering playfully with her rider.
Somewhat of a perfectionist, Crissith believes that those in her wing
should be utterly flawless. Because of her rider's lack of trust,
Crissith has, as yet, refrained from keeping an actual mate, but it is
hoped by many that she will cease her indecision so as to not toss
around Weyrleadership.

Impression: A wistful sigh escaped Aryna's lips. What was she even
doing here? She had no place here on the sands; they should have made
her a drudge by now. Kaiji was not allowed to be with her for now, she
perched tall atop T'lin's shoulder, watching intently. Aryna sighed,
blue-green eyes snapping abruptly to the eggs as the first jagged
crack crawled down the mottled eggshell. A green hatched, finding its
new lifemate immediately. Aryna shifted uncomfortably, despite the
smothering shoes upon her feet, she could still feel the heat of the
sands reaching up to strike her like a blow. More eggs shattered, some
of the dragonets found their destined quickly, others searched for
awhile, but Aryna's depoverished hopes never lifted. She felt like she
was part of the audience, an unwanted part, one that had no right to
be observing this miracle. And yet here she was, and once again there
was no one for her upon these sands…

Her eyes were suddenly caught by a dazzling display of wet golden
hide, recently erupted from the largest egg. The newborn queen wobbled
uncertainly, wedge-shaped head looking about hopefully. She walked
uncertainly, abruptly tripping. One of the girls ran to help her but
the queen snarled and she backed up. Aryna gave a silent laugh at the
girl, the soft smile darkening abruptly to a scowl as a blue suddenly
came up to the girl. Aryna looked away, but her eyes were inevitably
drawn once more to the golden hatchling. Its head suddenly turned to
her and Aryna found herself suddenly breathless, blue-green gaze drawn
inexplicably to the rainbow-faceted orbs as a sudden and unusual
warmth filled her bosom.

{{Come and admire Crissith, Aryna-mine,}} the gold ordered.
