Season One Summaries

Pilot
Lorelai Gilmore starts off the day at Luke’s getting coffee and then goes to the Independence Inn where Sookie has another accident. She finds out Rory has been accepted to Chilton Prep and must go to her parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, to ask for financial aide. They agree with two conditions; one, Rory and Lorelai must eat with them every Friday for a weekly dinner, two, Lorelai must call Emily weekly to tell her how Rory’s studies are going and how her life is going. Rory first meets Dean and they get along rather well. Rory and her mother get into an argument about her going to Chilton. The first weekly dinner doesn’t go over very well and ends up hurting Lorelai. In the end they both end up at Lukes after their dinner with Lorelai’s parents and they make up, making this a happy ending.
The Lorelais' First Day at Chilton
Lorelai wakes up late and ends up wearing an outfit fit for a rodeo. Rory and her hurry to Chilton and then go to meet the Headmaster, Hanlon, and find Emily there already. After Lorelai and Emily leave Hanlon tells Rory that Chilton is not for everyone. Everyone Lorelai sees asks if she wore the rodeo outfit to Chilton, which annoys her. As Rory’s day goes on she gets more unsure of her choice to attend Chilton as she gets bogged down with more and more work. Rory first meets Tristan and he begins to call her Mary and Paris whom hates her from the beginning because she ruins her project. Lorelai is asked out by a Chilton dad, and Luke gets a little jealous. The episode ends with Lorelai asking Rory what she thought about Luke, Rory tells her not to date him because she like to eat there and she doesn’t want her mother to ruin everything by dating him.
Kill Me Now
At one of the Gilmore weekly dinners Emily and Richard find out that Rory must take up a sport so Emily volunteers Richard to take her to his country club and teach her how to play golf. Richard feels uncomfortable at first, but later grows to like the idea. There’s a wedding going on at the Inn involving two sets of twins, things go wrong but everything turns out okay. Rory and Lorelai get into a small fight but Lorelai apologizes which makes everything better again. Sookie is forced to make blueberry shortcake when a shipment of strawberries don’t turn out well.
The Deer-Hunters
The episode begins with Rory and Lorelai shopping for serious school supplies. Rory gets her first D in Max Medina’s class. Sookie gets bent out of shape and hunts down the food cridic who says her Lucent Mills is fine. Lorelai goes to a parent teacher conference things and meets with and talks to Max, then confronts Rory about her getting a D and tells her that it’s ok and she wants to know these types of things.
Rory is hit by a deer while driving to Chilton after waking up late. When she finally arrives at the school Max won’t let her take her test that’s worth 20% of her grade so Rory has alittle. Lorelai gets mad and goes down there and chews out the head master and Max. Max later calls and leaves a message saying Rory can make up the work with extra credit.
