Alien
I really don't know why I like this movie, but I do. I think a lot of times people say movies are good, because everyone else thinks they are. Alien is a classic movie, and I do like it but the only things that really sets it apart from the other millions of alien movies is the mood it set. It was dark all of the way through, and the ship itself gave a very cold vibe. And speaking of the ship, the effects in the movie were very good, considering it was made in 1979. The alien costume and makeup was very detailed and creepy. I love the mouths inside the mouth thing. Another thing it had going for it was the cast. I think that they all gave a steller performance and played their parts well. All in all, a 4 out of 5.
Characters
- Ellen Ripley: The take-charge type of gal who assumes leadership of the mission and eventually kills the alien.
- Dallas: Captain of the mission. All around nice guy, but eventuall meets up with the alien in a dark shaft.
- Parker: Mechanic of the ship. Decides the best way to take down the killer alien is to jump at it. Dead.
- Lambert: The only other woman on the ship. I think she's a co-pilot who's only other duty is to panic.
- Ash: Science officer who schemes to protect the alien. Later turns out to be a android. Beaten to oblivion and burned.
- Kane: The poor sap who gets implanted with the alien. Dies after his chest explodes.
- Brett: Another mechanic. Quiet guy who gets sent after the cat (yes, a cat) in a dark room while the alien is on the prowl. Chomped.
- The Alien: Stalks and kills nearly all of the crew.
- The Cat: Only duty in life is tojump out and scare people.

Random Thoughts and Things Learned
- Some rooms on space ships leak water.
- Androids run on milk.
- Why shoot an alien, when you can jump at it?
- Why do all space ships (especially cargo ships) have a self destruct option?
