Amityville Horror

Let me say for the record, that I will NEVER live in a house where someone has died. The first time I saw this movie, I decided I didn't like it. I believed that it was too slow with too small of a payoff. But the second time I watched it, I liked it more. I don't know what was different this time around, but I likd it. I guess I knew what was going to happen, so I wasn't waiting for a real dramatic ending. Also, while I was digging up info on this movie, I came across a lot of sites that claimed that the Amityville murders were real, and the movie was based on them. While I can't confirm that in any way, it put the movie into a whole new perspective on the movie. As far as directing goes, I really dug the close-ups on the flys. Their blood red eyes gave me the creeps. I also liked the rocking chair that was moving on it's own. Simple, but effective. My advice is to rent it, but don't expect Hollywood special effects, or a big ending. 3.5 out of 5.
