Darkman
I consider this a border-line horror/adventure movie since it has a lot of dark undertones to it. Darkman is a normal guy who gets horribly disfigured during an attack, and now he feels no pain and has extra adrenaline which gives him super human strength. To me, Darkman is a believable super hero. He can't fly, creat web, and doesn't have x-ray vision. He's a freak with a high tolerance for pain, avenging certain wrongs. I really dug Sam Riami's directing, and the score by Danny Elfman. The story unfolded nicely, and there were cool camera angles. Also, the Bruce Campbell cameo was cool too. 4 out of 5.
Characters:
- Dr. Peyton/Darkman: Doctor who is developing a new type of prostetic skin. Attacked and disfigured by gangsters.
- Durant: Leader of the gang and a real hardass, who likes to collect severed fingures. Dies in an explosion.
- Julie: Darkman's woman who is afraid of commitment, so he gets burned in more way than one. She's also a lawyer.
- Louis: Land developer who has a crush on Julie and ends up trying to kill her. Darkman doesn't like that too much, so he drops him from the top of a building.
- Rick: Gangster who helped attack Darkman. Head flattened by a semi.
- Pauly: The muscle for the gang. Gets thrown from a window.
- Smiley & Skip: Two more gangsters who attacked Darkman. Killed.
- Eddie: Rival of Durant. Fingures chopped off and presumed dead.
