Through My Eyes (Part 2): Him

He marks his calendar,
Square by square,
Counting the days,
That she’s still there.
Every night before bed,
And at dawn when he wakes,
He prays to his Lord,
For the simplest way.
He loves this girl,
Til death do they part.
She has wandered her way,
Outside of his heart.
He cannot sense,
How he would live,
Hiding the truth,
Of his feelings within.
Talk about marriage,
That he hears from her friends,
Only makes it more difficult,
For him to make it end.
He observes her waiting,
Stepping in her direction.
Seeing her imminent tear,
He turns around for correction.
They’ve been together so long,
He’s matured further out of love.
In his opinion, she’s sometimes,
In his company too much.
For the rest of their lives,
He knows they won’t be together.
Love has been conquered,
Where it will lie forever.
One day when this boy,
Sits thinking at home,
He decides to write her,
A letter like poem.
He wants her to realize,
It’s no longer her that he needs.
Depicted in a poem,
The note he writes reads;
Dearest Sweetheart,
I just wanted to say,
That I thought about you,
Again, all day.
I know that you love me,
And I love you to death.
But it hurts to be with you,
Through one more breath.
If you and I stay together,
I don’t think I could take it.
Seriously, baby,
I’m not sure I’d make it.
We grew up as friends,
It soon became more.
You were always the one,
That I lived my life for.
I know that sometimes I’m distant.
My reasons, no good.
Please understand,
This is harder than it looks.
I want to give you freedom,
Do what I think is best.
Baby, I think,
Our relationship needs rest.
It’s so clearly obvious,
That we were never meant to be.
Hurting you,
Is so hard for me.
While I was sitting,
By myself tonight,
I thought of you,
And what I should write.
With this perceivable fait,
I leave you with this,
One finishing hug,
And a concluding kiss.
Write me back,
What’s in your head.
Sincerely yours,
Your boyfriend, Brad.
