Experience
ePocrates - San Carlos
December, 2000 - Present
Network Administrator / HelpDesk Manager
My responsibilities included the design and building of, as well as the day to day maintenance and administration of the following servers:
  • Microsoft Exchange 5.5sp4 Mail server running under Windows NT4sp6. This machine also acted as our SMTP gateway under IIS4.
  • ArcServeIT Network Backup Server using an ADIC Fastor DLT autoloader
  • TrendMicro OfficeScan/ServerScan Enterprise class AntiVirus server
  • 6 port analog RAS server running native NT RAS services
  • Network Print server running NT4sp6a serving 8 HP network printers
  • NT4sp6a PDC/WINS/DNS/DHCP/file server
I was responsible for organizing and executing the move of all of the WinNT servers in our data center in December of 2000 to our new location.
I have researched and implemented our migration from both Norton AntiVirus for Exchange and stand-alone Norton Antivirus workstation AV solutions to our current implementation of TrendMicro ScanMail for Exchange on the mail server and Trend Micro Server Protect file-based scanning services on all our NT servers (with the exception of our mail server), and Trend Micro OfficeScan Enterprise class file scanning services on all our workstations.
I designed a 6 port analog RAS server utilizing native NT RAS services to replace the 3 port solution that I implemented earlier in the year.
I upgraded our out-dated DDS3 autoloader tape backup solution to our current configuration of an ADIC Fastor DLT autoloader. I also refined all of our backup scripts under ArcServeIT as well as upgraded all of our WinNT servers with an optimized file-transfer conduit utility to utilize the increased speed that the DLT media supported.

I am also responsible for the management and orginization of our HelpDesk team which consists of two full time technicians.
My daily duties as HelpDesk manager include the oversight and orginizational as well as technical direction of any and all helpdesk requests.
I organized and implemented a 24/7 on-call scheduling schema for the HelpDesk team, focusing on providing 24/7/365 support while not degrading the performance or moral of my team.
