Generally the record player and wire transport are on the left and the radio and playback/recording controls are on the right. The radio dial is a slide rule type extending from front to back on the right side of the cabinet. The plastic escussion is raised above the wooden top. There are three knobs near the front and one way in the back. The knob in the center front is the radio tuning knob. The one left and slightly back is volume control. The one on the right and slightly back is the on/off switch and tone control. The one way in the back is the mode switch. It has six positions. The pointer is on the front of the knob and the legends are printed in front of the knob. This means you turn the knob clockwise to place the pointer at the left most position. To move to the right you turn the knob counter clockwise. The three on the right are for playback and three positions on the left are for recording. Here they are from left to right. 1. Record from microphone. 2. Record from phonograph. 3. Record from radio. 4. Listen to radio. 5. Listen to phonograph. 6. Listen to a wire. The operate switch is to the left and a little in front of the mode switch. It is located behind the wire spool spindle. Normally it is in the stop position. The play position is one click clockwise from the stop position. The rewind position is two clicks clockwise from the stop position. The record position is one click counter clockwise from the stop position. There is a small button a little to the right of this knob. This is the record lock button. It must be depressed and held down in order to place the operate switch into the record mode. The turntable is to the left of the wire spool spindle. Located between these two are the reset button, the record/playback head, for the wire, and the automatic shutoff gate. The head is to the left of the automatic shutoff gate both are near the front of the machine. The reset button is located on a plastic cover about half way between the edge of the wire spool and the edge of the turntable. The tone arm pivot is located behind and to the right of the turntable, near the operate switch. The arm locks into its storage position pointing to the left behind the turntable. It may be unlocked by sliding it either towards the front or towards the back of the machine. There is a shallow well with a rounded bottom on the far left for storing wire spools. There is a rounded, dome like projection to the left of the operate switch just beyond the tone arm pivot. This provides clearance for part of the machinery underneath and serves no user accessible function. End of verbal description.
