Gluey Putty
Mix 1/2 cup Elmers' Glue and 1/2 cup water together. In another bowl, mix 1 teaspoon Borax with 1 and 1/2 cups hot water. Let the Boraxsolution cool. In a disposable cup, mix 4 parts glue solution to 1 part Borax solution. For neato colors, use a few drops of food coloring.
Glue Ball
Mix 1 tablespoon Elmer's Glue-All and as much Borax as needed to make solution hard. Roll together into a ball. Let dry and have fun!
Monster Flesh
Place flour, salt, and alum in a mixing bowl. Mix well. Place water and glycerin in a separate bowl and add a few drops of food coloring. Add the water to the mixture of dry ingredients, a little at a time while stirring. Continue to add water until the mixture feels like dough. The moster flesh can be used immediately or stored in an air tight container. For fun, hold over the sink and pour some vinegar on your monster flesh.
Oobleck
Mix cornstarch and water until the mixture strings off of a spoon. Hit it and see what happens. Now slowly put in your fingers. Clean up is easy, the solution washes off your hands. If you make a mess of the counter or floor wait until it is completely dry and simply wipe up. For carpet, wait until dry and brush up or vacuum.
Crystal Garden
Place pieces of sponge or coal briquettes in the pie pan. Mix together the salt, water, liquid bluing and ammonia in a bowl. Pour the mixture over the porous material. If desired, sprinkle food color lightly over the pan. Let this sit for about a week and watch your own crystal garden grow!
Colorful Celery
Put water in a tall glass and add enough food coloring to darken the water. Cut the end of the celery stalk and leave it with the cut end in the water overnight. By morning you should have a colorful stalk of celery that will make a fun snack!
