Beth Driscoll, Girl of Mystery

   Beth

Hey, that's me graduating last year, a few weeks before my 24th birthday and only days before the faithless concert which was one of the best nights of my life. Graduation was really enjoyable. Any day when you wear special clothes is fun, even if they make you feel like a bird of prey. You can't see my testamur in the photo, but that was cool too. I love my Arts degree.

I should have a second graduation ceremony sometime soon. Well, I say "soon" but given that I'm entering my seventh year of generally decreasing enthusiasm for studying law, I think we can treat the concept of an end date with a little elasticity.

What I really want to do is be Susan Sontag. Or William Gibson. I want to spend my brain-chemicals incisively critiquing pop culture in a warm, pro-community way. Hence the web space. For those looking for a quick wrap-up of what is objectively cool in pop culture right now, I'll tell you.

Most Amusing Rapper: Princess Superstar

Most classy television show on at the moment: Grassroots repeats. It's summer.

Best Australian television show ever: Wildside

Best albums ever: faithless "sunday8pm" and radiohead "the bends"

Least convincing faux-punk teen screecher: Avril Lavigne

Best white-boy rappers: The Beastie Boys

Best author: William Faulkner

Most frightening movie ever: Requiem for a Dream

People who don't appreciate the genius of Lord of the Rings: Wrong

I could justify, contradict or at least elaborate on these opinions. But that's what my blog is for, so head on over to Pondering Pop where the water is warm.
