Castles of Britain - a great resource that includes a search engine.

Castles of the British Isles - castles are listed in alphabetical order; good pix and succinct but fact-filled history for each!

Castles of the World - click on a country... also pix of a build-your-own wooden castle.

Castles on the Web - same castles, different format and a lot of extra resources, like Castle Greeting Cards, suggested castle books, myths and legends, discussion area, and a whole lot more!

"Our Scottish Castle Tour" is one family's souvenir that shares some incredible pictures as well as some history. See the slide show, or chose from a list.

Dark Isle - This link will take you to the list of castles - some of them have floor plans, and great pix. Don't forget to check out their home page for a lot more than castles!

Britain Express - Castles in Britain and Wales. Trace the history of English and Welsh castles.

The Castles of Tuscany - Alphabetical listing; pictures and history for each castle.

Another fantastic resource, this one has castle pix (England, Scotland, Wales), clipart, Brief History of British Fortifications, and Roman Remains.

The Castles of Kingdom of Leon (Spain). Includes a Spanish castle vocabulary.

The cutaway picture of Odescalchi Castle (Italy) is small but gives detailed information of each section.

Old Photos of Chirk Castle - great B&W, sepia and tinted photos and there are links to other castles as well.

The Walled City of Carcassonne - Check out the architecture and the great pictures; try to successfully "attack" the walled city. The pictures of the church are incredible; a floor plan is included.

Visit the ghost city of Ani, in present day Armenia. There is an interactive map, and incredible pictures.

The Castle of Chillon, Switzerland, is an impressive medieval fortress. Site has a castle plan, and good pix via an interactive map of the castle.

Excellent photos of El Castillo on the Rio Dulce. Pictures only; no history or floor plan.

The incredible Lego castles of Bob Carney - Complex and highly detailed, these castles are just incredible. There are plans included with each castle, for both the original and the scale model.

Weald and Downland Open Air Museum - The Building Collection.

Great history of early construction and timber framing; detailed pictures.

Reconstruction of Barley Hall, Coffee Yard, York, a 14th century monastic hospice.

Renovation of the Great Barn at Harmondsworth.

Spon End Building Preservation Trust - this site documents the incredible preservation and restoration of valuable medieval buildings.

Excellent medieval resource in general, but check out Medieval Construction link about half-way down the page.
