A summer Saturday afternoon, July 13 2002

The Bunny Theatre, named for silent film comedian John Bunny, was built in 1913.

It is now the Nova Theatre, the farthest north theatre operating in Manhattan.

It continues its longest run as the oldest theatre still showing movies in Manhattan, & still a neighborhood theatre for the community around 148th Street and Broadway.

The Bunny Theatre was bigger than it appeared, extending half a block behind the storefronts to the left of its fanciful, bunny-head topped entrance on Broadway.

The Nova, much modernized & filled with cool neon, now has three auditoriums in the same space, the largest seating 200 people.

Although the interior of the Nova is new, you can still find traces of the Bunny here & there, like in a cast iron newel post on marble stairs.
