Operation: Save the World
Our partnership with Mutant Water was a success; they were a great asset and helped us in many raids and battles. It was some time after they joined us, that I received some horrible news.
Gawaan approached me in the armory; I was cleaning up my blaster.
"Your Highness," she said softly. She never calls me that, so I knew something very serious had happened. "You might want to take a look at this." She pulled out a small holoprojector. A hologram of a planet popped up.
"That's Tamaar! My planet!" I recognized, "what about it?" I asked.
"Just watch," she replied.
A hologram of a huge asteroid appeared it collided with the hologram of Tamaar and exploded. When everything settled, Tamaar and the asteroid at disintegrated.
"I'm sorry your Highness, but an asteroid is headed start for Tamaar. In 48 hours, they will collide and both be completely destroyed."
I holstered my blaster; "we must get Tamaar evacuated immediately. Get Orion; tell him to gather an escort. Tell Sachae to ready my ship, I am returning to Tamaar." Gawaan hurried away to do my bidding.
I went to find Tantus, leader of Mutant Water.
"Chloe!" he smiled when I entered his courtiers, "what do I owe this pleasure?"
"I am leaving, I must return to my home planet of Tamaar. An asteroid is on collision course with it."
He sighed, "I'm very sorry your Highness."
"I would enjoy your company, along with a couple of your people. It is your choice though."
Tantus smiled warmly, "not my people, Chloe, our people. Mutant Water is every much part of the rebellion as the others, are they not?"
"If you don't come, you will be in charge along with Ken. If you do come, Ken will be in charge."
"Of course I'll come, I'll bring Laura, Mat, and Alex. How's that?"
"Wonderful, we'll be leaving in one hour," I said and left his courtiers.
In the hour, Rion, Gawaan, Sachae, Tantus, Laura, Mat, Alex, two other guards, and myself blasted off in The Dove.
I had a plan in my mind, if we used enough laser canons, perhaps we could blow the asteroid off course. I asked Orion if it would work, he said that it probably would, but we would need a lot of laser canons.
Ten hours later, we arrived on Tamaar. There was such celebration; I have not been on my planet for years. How I have missed it so!
We only had 37 hours. I told the planet about the asteroid and got the local garrisons to start with the evacuation. I then called for all laser canons to the side of the planet closest to the asteroid. It was very close but moving slowly, it could already be seen in the sky.
Getting the laser canons took awhile and most of them were not charged up, so when they were finally ready it was only 24 hours till the asteroid hit. Scientist declared that it was starting to be pulled by Tamaar's gravity and was starting to move faster.
The gravitational presence of the asteroid was too much and all power across the planet was cut out. That meant that ships could not take off, power generators would not work.
Tantus used Electro powers to run the generator but if he stopped, the generator would stop. He could not keep it going for very long, though. We stranded, with out power on a planet that was doomed to by destroyed.
It was 10 hours till collision and the asteroid now filled up most of the sky, scientist said that it was very rapidly gaining speed.
"Your Highness," Alex bowed her head as she approached. "Tantus and I would like a word with you privately."
I shrugged, "I'll right."
She took me to a closed hover car where Tantus was waiting.
"Chloe," he started, "I have a plan. It should work but it will be very dangerous."
"What is it?" I asked.
"As you know your Highness, I am a molecular radiation mutant. My full abilities would be almost enough to wipe out an asteroid."
I did not understand at first what she was saying; "will it work?"
"Yes," Tantus replied, "with my Electro powers, I can help boast the radiation and it will surely destroy the asteroid."
"The radiation does not affect me, but I my not be able to completely control it and others will die." Alex told me, "you need to evacuate this place."
"Alright, it will be dangerous, but if it saves millions of lives. It would be worth it," I decided.
I exited the hover car and declared that everyone live the area and return to the capital Maquinis.
"Good luck," I said to Tantus and Alex. I was the last one to leave; Gawaan and Orion were waiting in a hover car.
"I my not come back, Chloe," Tantus finally said. "It has been an honor serving you." He bowed, and I walked away.
I was extremely distressed. The collision was in five hours and I would probably lose a very good friend. A loud sound caught my attention; I rushed to the window.
A brilliant ice blue light filled the sky towards the asteroid. It was a small beam at first but it grew wider and wider until the asteroid was bathed in this beam. It suddenly changed a brilliant white, to bright to look at. When I looked back, it was gone, as was the asteroid.
Now all we had to do was wait for Alex to return to the palace. Five days later a tired, exhausted Alex stumbled into the palace gates.
"What happened?" I demanded, after she had rested up and eaten. "Tantus is dead, isn't he? Where's the body?"
Alex smiled weakly, "don't worry, he dead bravely. When he added his powers to mine, his went out of control. They intensified, but he didn't let go, even though he was in pain. He never cried out, but I knew that he was in pain. His body melted down, there was nothing left, not a single molecule."
I was very sad, but the fact that he dead very bravely helped me.
Three days later we returned to the rebel base. Alex, being one of the most powerful mutants and because of the bravery she showed on Tamaar, became leader of Mutant Water and general of the rebellion.
Laura is a lieutenant in the rebellion and a feline mutant. No where will you find a better bodyguard.
Mat is a fire elemental, he can shoot fire from his hands. He has quiet the temper, you don't want to be around him when his in a bad mood.
Alex emits intense radiation from her eyes. She's like a living Atomic bomb. She can be dangerous, but she has learned how to channel her powers, and direct the radiation and the amount.
