Exchanging Fleets for Nukeds
Here is a cloaker trick
everyone can try! In this game, Freakazoid and Stormer have been battling
it out for over 40
updates. Everytime Stormer attempts to nuke Freakazoid's Home World,
Freakazoid matches his fleet. When 2 sides are rougthly equal, it may
seem like a good idea to match a nuking fleet because, having one more
ship means 2 turns of no building for your fleet to reach full br again,
therefore it is allot less "messy" to make sure that all your
ships as well as your opponents are destroyed. Matching fleets is a
dangerous thing however, as you will see here in this grudge match.

Turn 0: The Aftermath
Stormer has just won a battle over his Home
World, beating Freakazoids fleet of 10 with his own fleet of 12.
Stormer's 7 remaining ships will take 2 turns to fully heal. Freakazoid
has 2 attacks poised at Catdog and 2 sweepers in Freakazoid. Stormer
has 1 Minesweeper and 5 attacks along with 1 full br mine at his
home system. He has a br 1 cloaker waiting in Freakazoids Home World
for just the right moment!

Turn 1: Threatening the HW
Freakazoid does not combine his fleet over
Catdog, since he had only 4 ships to Stormer's 6 (moveable ships
anyways.) He crashes his 2 attacks into Stormer's Home World , setting
off the mine. Stormer moves out to Catdog with his 5 attacks and
1 sweeper while catdog builds 4 attacks to go along with his 2 sweepers
at Freakazoid.
Freakazoid could build another 3 or 4 attacks
next turn and destroy Stormer's fleet, however Freakazoid is confident
he can move his fleet out to Catdog and build enough ships to defend
his HW, while at the same time attacking Stormer. At least this
is the pattern of every skirmish so far in this game. Stormer is
counting on this for his plan to work.

Turn 2: Nuke or be nuked
Freakazoid responds as expected and moves
his fleet of 6 ships out to Catdog and builds 4 attacks at Freakazoid.
Stormer looses 2 attacks and now has 3 attacks and 1 minesweeper
over Freakazoid's Home World, along with 1 cloaked br 1 cloaker.
Freakazoid now has what seems to be a perfect
opportunity to get the nuke on Stormer. He can build 4 ships in
one turn, and if Stormer is stupid enough to attempt the nuke, all
4 ships will be destroyed and Freakazoid will have enough ships
over Stormer's Home World to nuke it.
The trap is baited and ready to spring.

Turn 3: Kaboom!
The plan works perfectly, Freakazoid is unaware
that Stormer even has cloakers so he sends his 6 ships south into
Stormer's Home World. If he had sent just one measly attack back
to his HW, he would of foiled the nuke and probably nuked Stormer
the following turn. Freakazoid builds 4 ships to protect his Home
World, but the br 1 cloaker allows three of the ships to survive
at a pitifully low br, and Stormer gets the nuke.
The moral of the story here, is do not make
a habit of exchanging fleets with your enemy when he is over your
homeworld or other important targets. A br 1 cloaker does not show
up on the military rating and uses only 12 fuel and 6 minerals. The
second lesson is to not be predictable, always do slightly different
varations each battle, or you will soon have opponents guessing
your next moves.
