CANDLELIGHT VIGIL IN HONOR OF ROE V. WADE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR WOMEN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE SAFE, LEGAL, AFFORDABLE, AND ACCESSIBLE ABORTION. A VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER: On Wednesday, January 22, NOW UH will be celebrating 30 years of Roe v. Wadealong with members of other area NOW chapters. Words from the National Organization for Women "Thirty years ago, women's constitutional right to control their reproductive lives was recognized in the historic Roe v. Wade decision. On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. Constitution protects the right to abortion. Today, the Bush administration and its extremist allies want to take away women's reproductive freedom. It is likely that Bush will nominate one, or even two, new Supreme Court justices before his term ends. These justices will have the power to roll back our rights. We must take action now to protest Bush's anti-abortion agenda. Join with us to commemorate the 30th anniversary of abortion rights, to protect our reproductive freedom and to SAVE ROE NOW." Speak-Out! January 22nd 10:00 - 2:00 pm University Center, North Patio Come speak out for Roe v. Wade. We will have tons of Roe v. Wade stuff. Come by and pick up a button, sign a postcard, voice your support, get valuable information. Amplified sound from 11:30 - 1:00 pm. Candlelight Vigil

The vigil continues in Washington, DC, with many coming from around the country to share their creativity, heart and desire to keep us from going to war in Iraq. What is shared each day is truly a moving and celebratory experience. I encourage you to come join us in the next few months.

We will celebrate the power of the voices of women in the Global Peace movement from March 3rd to 9th in WDC. Circling the Whitehouse in pink on March 8th, International Women's Day. Teachins, workshops, a film festival and concert are just a few of the activities that weekend. Watch the website for details and join us!!!!

We are working to keep the website up to date as the power of pink grows around the country, I encourage you to check in often www.codepink4peace.org.

This weekend we will be in DC and SF and a pink presence in many other vigils and rallies around the country. If you are coming to DC we will begin on the 17th creating a peace web as we sit outside the White House in Lafayette Park during the day followed by a candlelight vigil that evening. Check the website for details.

In SF we will meet before the parade begins at Tully's, (4 blocks from the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It is on the corner of Market & Battery, (close to Noah's Bagels). There is a statue of a man on the corner. If you were to take the Bart you would get off at Montgomery Street and walk towards the water) wear pink, bring signs, and look for the pink balloons. We will bring buttons and flyers. Spread the word, let's be a pink presence for peace, a visual of the strong and powerful voice of women in this movement.
