THE OLLIE

The ollie the most important trick to skateboarding, you need to know how to do this if you want any chance of being a good street skater. This tick is hard and takes time. If you are learning this I suggest you start on a rug or grass, someplace that your not going to move and roll around, because chances are you will fall, and you will especially fall if you land and the board jerks and moves away. The stance varies for different people, but normal stance is to have your toes of your back foot on the toe side rail of the tail. You want your front foot in the middle of the board with the toes on the toe side rail. The balls of your feet will be hanging off the board. If this stance doesn't feel comfortable you can alter it a little, by putting you front foot furthur back or furthur up but it has to be behind the front truck bolts, and relatively close to this.~~~~~~~~~~~Step 1: This is the hardest step of the trick but the most important. You need to slam your tail down, jump, and slide your front foot up the board using the toes or the side of your foot, all of this has to be simultaneously. It takes perfect timing. As you're slamming your tail down you should also be sliding your foot up at the same time. If you don't get the timing right you will know because the back of the board will not get any air, or the board will just go flying away.~~~~~~~~~~Step 2: Now that you hopefully have some air, you have to do something else. When you are at the peek of the ollie you have to level the board out and bend your knees. If you don't get much height then you won't have time to push down slightly on the front to level the board out, but usually by sliding your foot up the board will level out. You want your knees to be bent and up so the board can go as high as it can, by you giving it more room. Bending your knees is mainly to help with the impact of landing but it is also a hint if you are jumping as high as you can or lifting your legs up enough, so look for you knees to be bent.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Step 3: Now you have to land. You want to have the board land with all wheels at the same time or at least 3 for starters. The board should be level when your coming down for maximum chance to land good. Keep you knees bent and absorb the landing so you don't hurt you legs and you can keep balanced. That is the ollie.~~~~~~~~~~Hopefully this helped, but if there is something confusing or you still can't do it just email me and i will be happy to help with anything. -written by justine
